Re: Traveling to China soon...

ssh -p 443 -D worked as charm , but I didnt used it on phone , unsure harmattan support socksified browser by default , may need extra cli tools ...

Air was fresh and weather perfect :-)

I loved to stay in shanghai this past week , and found out there our community may have a Chinese speaking section too what do you think of that ? I'll try to kickstart a forum thread for that...

Re: Traveling to China soon...

FYI, Last month I was in China, I used Reindeer and HidemeVPN on my Android Tablet and VPNme on BB10.

Reindeer is the quickest but slightly expensive, but support cross-device using same account. HidemeVPN is cheaper but only one device and slightly slower. VPNme is super slow and not cheap but it's the only one I found on BB10.
Good luck! (Gmail on phones was blocked last month, and outlook was reported not running well last week.)

You're going to have a hard time connecting. You should just buy a new phone, an iphone or samsung note 5. It's not cheap, but it's worth it.

Well, what @MiaHeinrichs suggested AFAIU is that "getting a new phone would make it easier to connect" (while in China)

That makes absolutely no sense? Why would it make any difference whether you have a nice Maemo/Meego/SFOS device or some silly iPhone or Android?

I guess his point is there are many "ready to use" VPN apps on Android or apple store, unlike Maemo/MeeGo/Sailfish the user has to set up himself.

But to be honest that doesn't make iJunk or Samsung "worth the money". Especially for iDontCare series, how come an ugly stupid hard to use teenager toy "worth the money" while it's overpriced exaggerately? (Most around £700) :D
