Re: Released : Canola2 beta9 Update. Please unninstall beta10, disable extras-devel
Quick follow-up on my post on this page...
Is any of the mp3/cover art mechanism dependent on libssl? I've run canola -vv to try to take a closer look, but I realized last night that I was missing a libssl.so.0.9.7 dependency for gizmo (uninstalled a while ago, and tried downloading and installing gizmo again). Thanks, - Jason |

Here is what the log has to say: Installing canola2 2.0.0~beta9-maemo3 E: I wasn't able to locate file for the python2.5-feedparser package. This might mean you need to manually fix this package.(due to missing arch) I installed carman without problems... |

The issue with the cleanup script removing Canola and Carman is known. We're working together with the Carman team to provide a solution that will work for both. Best Regards, Etrunko. |

Can you please tell us which is your device (770, N800, N810) and which is the version of the firmware installed (OS2006 aka gregale, OS2007 aka bora, OS2007HE aka Hacker Edition, OS2008 aka chinook, OS200HE, Diablo)?? This may help us to find what exactly is your problem. Thanks, Etrunko. |
Re: Released : Canola2 beta9 Update. Please unninstall beta10, disable extras-devel
With all this upgrading and downgrading, my wish for opml export / import of feed lists is growing stronger. Does any such option exist somewhere?
By the way, I notice canola-cleanup runs apt-get with --force-all, and other commands in a similar fashion where they will happily do anything without stopping to think. The idea is, naturally, so the user doesn't have to do anything. It should be pointed out, however, that such behaviour in a script is very destructive and risks breaking something (possibly the device) without the user's knowledge. I REALLY suggest you remove that and have it simply run in a usable terminal where the user says "yes" or "no" to the prompts generated by those commands. |

Canola install still not working :( |
Re: Released : Canola2 beta9 Update. Please unninstall beta10, disable extras-devel
Ok, I've done a good bit of searching and can't seem to find anyone else having this problem: Canola will not save any of my media folder settings. I can add podcasts and internet radio stations without issue. But if I go to Media Folders and check the "eye" for any folder on any of the 3 storage devices for any music, photos or videos, it then says that it's scanning the library and acts normal, but then when I go to any of those sections in Canola it says No items found. Going back into the settings reveals that it has no checkmarks on any of the folders I previously checked. Repeating things has the same result.
I've uninstalled all Canola items, ran the cleanup, reinstalled only Canola (more than once) and still have the same problem. Not sure if this is any help in identifying problems, but the Youtube plugin seems to work, but if I install the upnp plugin Canola won't even start. Thanks! Levi |

I have exactly the same problem, also with previous beta's. Canola has never been able to find any media file on my N810 although many are present (do you use English language on your NIT? Mine is set to Dutch..). Even when I only check the folder "Images" it takes quite a long time to scan this folder which looks strange to me... Podcast etc. are no problem indeed.

Ditto zwerfkat...
I can't seem to find Media at all either. In fact the "UPDATING MEDIA LIBRARY" display holds for an awfully long time before returning to the Media Folders display. This version (Beta9) seems to be "knackered" for me. And yes, I have not only disabled but deleted the Extras-devel repository and run the Canola-Cleanup TWICE before each install. To me it looks like something may have changed the files-associations, but I could be wrong. Short of reflashing and reinstalling everything...how to fix? |

problem sounds familiar, will the issue be fixed soon? it's pretty frustrating because 4 out of 6 media players doesn't see my itunes- songs. and those 2 are just uncomfortable to use, no id-tag -data... |
