Cannot install/update GPE Calendar

I've used GPE calendar for over a year and I WAS very happy with it. It would no longer update due to missing dependencies, so I tried to uninstall and then reinstall. Now it won't reinstall either. How can I install the missing dependencies? How about some step-by-step for linux noobs like me?

List of missing dependencies:

gpe-icons (>=2.8+maemo_svn20081212-3)
gpesyncd (>=2.8+maemo_svn20081212-3)
libeventdb2 (>=2.8+maemo_svn20081212-2)
lobgpepimc1 (>=2.8+maemo_svn20081212-2)
libgpevtype1 (>=2.8+maemo_svn20081212-2)
libgpewidget1 (>=2.8+maemo_svn20081212-3)
libhandoff0 (>=2.8+maemo_svn20081212-2)
libmimedir-gnome0 (>=2.8+maemo_svn20081212-2)
libsoundgen0 (>=2.8+maemo_svn20081212-2)
libtododb0 (>=2.8+maemo_svn20081212-2)
libxsettings-client0 (>=2.8+maemo_svn20081212-2)
gpe-icons (>=2.8+maemo_svn20081212-3)

Thanks

Re: Updated GPE Beta

Make sure you install with the Application Manager as it does a better job of resolving dependancies than available on the command line. Hopefully you're running Diablo. Diablo maemo extras is the best repository to get a recent version of the GPE aps.

@fragos:
I do use the application manager. I flashed the most current image and running OS2008/Diablo earlier today. I have enabled http://repository.maemo.org/extras and http://repository.maemo.org/extras-devel and still no install.

Re: Updated GPE Beta

i would suggest disabling extras-devel, as there may be a conflict between whats on there, and whats on extras.

Re: Updated GPE Beta

Ditto on disabling Extras Development. It is a bit confusing because there are more than one Extras repositories. I believe Diablo Extras has a newer version of the GPE aps than the Maemo Extras. That may be the reason your dependencies are too old. Place the following 8 lines in a text file whose name ends in ".install" as in repository.install. Transfer thsi file to your N8x0 and run it. The newer Diablo repository will be added.

Re: Updated GPE Beta

err, he already have extras enabled, so he only needs to disable extras-devel...

Although the base URL is same, Maemo Extras has a blank "distribution field" while Diablo Extras has that field set to "Diablo" which I believe makes them different parts of the same repository tree.

Re: Updated GPE Beta

a blank field will be auto-filled by the currently running distro, in my experience.

only if you want something outside of diablo, say chinook or similar, would you need to specify distro.

Thanks, that makes perfectly good sense.

Re: Updated GPE Beta

hrmf, i did a bit of checking, and it seems that the gpe calendar version found in extras may have been wrongly pushed from extras-devel, without the additional packages following.

the one in extras reads 20081212, same as the one in extras-devel, yet the rest of the gpe packages in extras read 20080114.
