I can't believe we're relegated to the place where the desperate for functionality now have to use a hex editor to obtain functionality in a supposedly supported plugin on what should still be a supported platform for a current product from this manufacturer. >.<

I don't actually understand what you mean by "and then /media/mmc2/"...

try:

sudo gainroot
cd /media/mmc2
and then continue with my instructions above (starting at "Enter the following").

i did exactly what you said and now flash doesn't work anymore. the component of flash is gone and when i go on youtube, it says flash is turned off, and it won't show in the components. how can i fix this??? now the problem is worse!! no flash!!

I really tried to warn you... This isn't something you should have tried... But anyway...

Did any of the commands return an error?

You seem to have moved the real plugin but you didn't copy the new one into its place.

You have two choices now. Move the "real one" back, or try again to move the hacked one. I recommend moving the real one back.

Moving the real one back

On one line, still as root:

cp /usr/lib/browser/plugins/libflashplayer.so.real /usr/lib/browser/plugins/libflashplayer.so
Trying again

Download the file again to /media/mmc2, then, as root:

cd /media/mmc2
gunzip libflashplayer.so.gz
cp libflashplayer.so /usr/lib/browser/plugins

It works VERY SLOWLY, but it works.

EDIT: Well, I've yet to actually see a video, it just keeps "loading" and "loading". So I won't say it works, but it doesn't give the "upgrade flash" error anymore.

EDIT2: It never seems to finish loading a 13 second video. So I'd say it still doesn't really work, it just appears to work.

After something just this side of forever, the player does load. It displays the album art, allows me to select tracks, and even permits me to toggle between "Play" and "Pause". However, the progress slider never moves, and the joyous sounds of A Different Kind of Cop will not flow from my tablet's speakers.
