Where are the email clients that can support HTML text for outgoing mail? This N900 does, but it's poor in most other ways.

Hey, knock yourself out. But the term "nearly infinite" is usually the first sign of trouble when you're talking about most things computing. An update or a different client might get you to point B, but it's also possible nothing will keep your n900 from being sluggish with 6,000 messages in your Inbox. Unless of course I wrote the app. :) Good luck.

Not on topic but...
All I use is G-Mail when I'm using a phone with net access. That and the addy that is tied to my cell number by my service provider. That addy (your_PTN@tmomail.net for instance) is usually the one provisioned for any/all the services they offer...

Is there a G-Mail notifier widget yet for the N900 like there is for OS2008?

BTW: I consider myself a "warm spot" pioneer and can't wait until I plug my SIM into a new N900 and them patent inquiry calls start rolling in. :)

This is a reply i got when i asked about this same inquiry

"it is a free trial anywhere there is no branded carrier offering. if a carrier in your area starts offering an Ovi Push email offering, your trial no longer works, and you'll need to get it from the carrier"

Until the arrival of gmail, I would agree. With gmail, though, I have everything in the inbox. Instead of sorting to different specific folders you just tag mails with one or more labels, which is better than sorting to distinct boxes. I'm guessing that some of the current problems are impossible to avoid until the mail client is fixed so that it can receive headers only. Combine that with e.g. only downloading unread mailheaders, or the latest 50 or 100 or something, and you're all set.

That's mostly my point. Whether you're dealing with your local or remote folders, it's about UI responsiveness and how, what, when, and where the app pulls stuff in. Holy sh*t, I just stared at the .modest file directory. I could be wrong, but I don't think I am, but it seems that there's a one-to-one correspondence between folder/directory and letter/file. For that one guy, that would be 6000 files in one directory. Not good on any file system. I hope that's not the result of using standard sqlite.

Obviously, it's non-trivial to work with large textual data sets, especially when you also add in the ability to do full text searching . But this problem has already been solved, and it would be nice if the modest guys could just pull something off the shelf that works well with these device specs.

I thought I read that even the server-side portion of Google Wave is open source. If so, I bet there's some interesting stuff in there. Good luck to the modest guys.

Which completely dodges the question of when does the trial end though since the last part of the email states

1000 emails may be alot for some, but I get about 300+ emails a day, and keep at least that many in my inbox at all times by default. I try to widdle it down. Why is that so hard for a mobile to do?

and I reflashed my device last night, and can now see Nokia Messaging in the providers
