I would hazard a guess that there's been a breakdown in communication between China and this seller, a 24,000mAh battery at 5v that weighs 220g, is the same size as a wrapped cable, and costs £12, just isn't happening. It's probably 2,400mAh, and even that'd be pretty impressive for the device's cost.

As a reference point, this is a proper 21,000mAh at 5v battery pack..

As a rule of thumb, if it is supposed to refill the battery 17 times, it should be at least as large as 17 batteries.

I am looking for a portable charger that uses AA batteries. Using AA batteries really makes that charger usable, I can use my camera batteries when required.
portable charger is something needed while traveling, well atleast for me, so keeping 2 to 4 pair of AA high end batteries can suffice the camera as well the great n900.
Has anyone tried that. I was googling it and found:

The reviews tell the story around the voltage thing, normal AA 1.5 V X 4 is 6, does not with iPod/iPhone.
But 1.2 V NiMH AA batteries should work with N900.

Also one thing, N900 battery BL-5J 1320mAh.
And 1 NiMH batteries comes in 1300-2900 mAh, Does that mean 1 AA battery is equivalent to BL-5J?

if that is true, that is great, I can keep 3-4 pairs of fully charged AAs in my luggage and never go out of power on my n900.

No AA nimh battery will genuinely be 2900mAh, especially not when used in any 1-4 cell charger.

When comparing batteries it makes more sense to compare the energy:
1.2V * 2000mAh = 2.400Wh
3.7V * 1320mAh = 4.884Wh

Considering that there are significant losses, you'll need atleast 3 AA nimh batteries to charge BL-5J.

once again did anyone tried to use powermonkey-eXplorer ( http://powertraveller.com.au/product...products_id=68 ) with n900?
does it charge directly from solar panel or only via powermonkey or it doesnt work at all?

The Power Monkey works fine with the N900. I find it best to charge the PM with the solar panel, and to then use that to top up the N900. IIRC the PM doesn't come with a micro-usb adapter.
