Re: N95 still better than N900
I had an N82, the ugly brother of N95, because of the camera, xenon flash and mechanical shutter, the rest was just like N95 8gb but with expandable memory and somewhat cheaper.
Comparing the camera makes no sense since even N86 with wide angle lens and 8 megapixels couldn't really out-photo N82. However the camera on N900 is still a very good one and I have no regrets for choosing it. Maybe I would have if the battery on N82 wasn't such a mess... barely made it through the day. |
Re: N95 still better than N900
Reading this topic disappoints me about the speakers....(Expecially the comparison with the N96, that phone was terrible :p)
Oh well, you can't have everything I guess. :) |
Re: N95 still better than N900
I have upgraded from N95, which as most of you say was an excellent phone, but to compare it against the N900 is somewhat laughable. Anything the N95 could do the N900 can do or will do (after community support) better.
I mainly text, email and browse and at this moment in time i'm happily wrapping up my N95 for ebay and cant see a reason for looking back. Then again this is just one opinion. |
Re: N95 still better than N900
when the n95 8gb came out it b**** slapped every device across the face ... i wish nokia would release something like that in the future ...they've done it once now lets see them do it again.... anyways back to topic ... i am a proud owner of the n95 8gb and n900 ... to me they are both great devices ... i agree that the speakers on the n95 is a little "louder" but the speaker of the n900 has less distortion when volume is max ... so far the best speakers ive heard was from the 5800 that thing is crystal clear even though it is not as loud. all in all i dont think it is fair to compare the n900 to the n95 because one is a phone and the other one is a tablet ... if you want to make a fair comparison then compare the types of phone in the same class

Re: N95 still better than N900
Although I've had my n900 for a few days Im still relying on my n95. Yesterday I was using it to watch the Arsenal-Man U match via Vodafone mobile TV, this morning it's alarm woke me up. It's 7.59am here right now and Im leaving to go to work (I live close to work during the week) and Im deciding which phone to bring with me - well there's no thinking about it. When it comes to phone features and functionality the n900 has 'potential', but the n95 does everything now.

Re: N95 still better than N900
It may sound dumb to you guys, but I upgraded from an n80, and I have to agree. louder speakers on N80. but everything else is much better on the n900 I think!
If they can force more power to the FM transmitter, why cant they just force more power to the speakers? maybe nokia forced it low so as not to blow them out on louder songs ? as it would suck to have one blown speaker, and one good one. |
Re: N95 still better than N900
I've still got my N95 8GB, it's a superb phone, but N900 excels where the N95 fails (or doesn't do to well), email, web browsing, widgets.
The N95 has been degraded to a simple GPS device now, hopefully in the next 6 months I won't need the N95 (I am going to miss it!). N95 was Nokia's last BIG success, best phone I have ever used - i.e. it was actually USEFUL, and allowed me to do stuff that I actually needed rather than lots of silly crap that I forgot about after 30 seconds. |

The Flip Side The n900 is a flat out better device. I could list a gabillgan reasons why like: batt life (which sucked huge donkey parts on the n95), conversations app, internet experience, doesn't crash half as much as the n95, the flash support, so forth and so on. I loved my n95 and still use it (mainly because symbian has some apps that just aren't available for maemo yet) but the n900 is still waaaay better in my opinion. Not in every aspect, of course not but, but over all? the short comings pale in comparison to all the added benefits. I do however feel short changed because i would expect a device to be much better or at least match the caliber of the ones that came before it several years before it but i would definitely make the trade again. the n900 is awesome |
