Re: QStarDict
Look, I'm all for having debian packages of dictionaries, it's trivial to make them. However, I'm not going to make any until I'm sure that they are free to use and not copyrighted. If anyone can point me to stardict dictionaries that are completely free and not just databases extracted from commercial products, then I will consider packaging them.

Re: QStarDict
How about a step by step how-to for installing the current databases? That would be incredibly helpful for those out there who are not familiar with the intricate command lines for Maemo. The suggestions I have already seen on these boards, for example, have not yielded any success for me. My qstardict dictionary folder is still empty!

Re: QStarDict
Documentation can be found at: https://garage.maemo.org/docman/inde...&language_id=1
1) Find stardict dictionary (database) 2) Put it on disk 3) Let qstardick know about folder, in which you have put them |

Also I need to add a help page in the application which describes how to install a dictionary. Thank you guys for this discussion, it's nice to have a feedback. It's maemo :) |

Speaking of which... does the scan function work? If so, how? It would be pretty convenient to somehow select a word in the browser or the feed reader and get a translation. |

These sorts of files are available in all other package management interfaces, for example. It's just painful in HAM because: 1) You *always* have to start at the top (it doesn't bring you back to "t" if you just installed a "t*" application, for instance). 2) You can't just type letters and automatically scroll to that letter (e.g. type "ope" and forward to "openssh" etc.) So if HAM were more functional, this wouldn't be a problem. Fix HAM, and let things like gcompris and dictionaries be packaged how they are in every other distro. |

http://stardict.sourceforge.net/Dict...w.dict.org.php Also, (and you probably know this far better than me, but i point it out anyway), they shouldn't be installed into a "qstardict" (as i suggested above) but into a *stardict* path of some sort so they can be used by other similar applications. Thanks! |
Re: QStarDict
I installed QstarDict, unpacked the dictionaries in MyDocs/stardict/dic directory and set the right path in config screen. But I don’t see them in the dictionaries tab.
Any ideas what can be wrong? |
Re: QStarDict
Pejman,
You are probably talking about @SR's build from repository. Please copy dicts to ~/.stardict/dic/ ~/MyDocs/stardict/dic is a path for my build, I tried to avoid showing users paths with "." |
