type cd /etc/systemui (press enter)

leafpad systemui.xml (press enter)

edited the file again and saved, rebooted and it WORKS!!!!

i didnt type cd /etc/sytemui befor, was that the problem?

thanx for all the help ;)

It could have been depending on how you accessed or copied the file the first time.

The way I posted I did it in the other post was the easiest for me with editting on the phone. Maybe check your MyDocs folder and see if there is a systemui.xml file sitting in there and that could explain it.

You could also give the full pathname to do it without changing directories. An example would be if you wanted to backup the systemui.xml file it would be:

#>sudo gainroot <enter>
#>cp /etc/systemui/systemui.xml /etc/systemui/systemui.xml.bak <enter>

I did it the other way because it is less typing LOL.

What worries me about giving people a reboot button is the bug where the phone can be bricked once the reboot count reaches 50 without a proper power off - not sure it that applies here.

You can use the file browser or open xterm and type:
ls <enter>

It should list MyDocs and apps and see if the file is there. If it isn't you can type:
cd MyDocs <enter>
ls <enter>
and that will list everthing that isn't a hidden file in the MyDocs folder

You need rootsh installed and before launching mc you need to type sudo gainroot

Yes you can get rid of the one in mydocs and then cd to the /etc/systemui directory and do a ls there and see what files are there. If you only have the one systemui.xml file there what I would do is do a:

cp systemui.xml systemui.xml.bak

then leafpad the .bak file and change it back to original by moving the <!-- back up above the <menuitem> tag for reboot.

That way you have an original just in case.
