Some here got a bit selective memory. Iphone 3G had big reception issues that Apple knowlidged, but till the second update Apple didn't do anything to it. Or WiFi problems that i was affected too. How about the cracking plastic back on the 3G, where exactly the same problem was on already on the old gen macbooks. Would have thought they learned from there already?

Not saying that Nokia shouldn't get these probs fixed and not get sued and what not, but it's no sun and puppys always on the other side either.

/var/lib/dpkg/info/cmt-firmware-rx51.list has a pretty interesting lines for PR1.0.1:

/boot/cmtImage

???

OK... apt-get install --reinstall -d cmt-firmware-rx51=8.2.2009.3.4.3-2+0m5

can't find it... Only newest can be picked up.

So, to make rollback possible Nokia should put back in repository this file.

I'm afraid to update my device.

i know what you mean but it seems the best way to do so is to Uninstall all apps, and restore your phone to the original setting.. i haven't done mine but i think thats the road i'm taking

But why would you remove it?

i think because when the n900 was just a n800 you could

Not particularly inclined to such an obvious troll, but I do wonder how many of these issues are related to OTA updating instead of straight flashing.

Really? It's not that big of a deal to backup and do a full flash followed by a restore. But I seriously doubt if that's going to fix the media player, especially since kmplayer/osso backend plays the video fine.

I'm questioning why the testers didn't run across some of these bugs. I expect the OTA update plays a part here (since the beta firmware was distributed as a FIASCO image).

That's a reasonable suggestion. Any one not do an OTA upgrade but a full flash and have video playback problems?
