Re: Full file system access: OpenSSH + WinSCP
@leetut - It doesn't sound like the problem is with your PC, the password or the IP address. It sounds like a problem with the server on your device.
You need to uninstall it from the device and reboot. Reinstall it (by the way, it's usually best to only enable the testing and dev repositories only when you need to) and make sure that the server is running - from Big Phat Jan's advice: "you can test with "ps -A | grep sshd" in a terminal. You should see an sshd process owned by root." Then set up a logged session in WinSCP and post the contents of the log here. |
ok day 4 here, ive fully flashed the phone reinstalled ssh on phone and pc, it still wont connect, ip is correct, user is root, password is correct, is there still no solution for this?

Re: Full file system access: OpenSSH + WinSCP
I read most of this thread - full file system access!
But I have still no idea where Maemo stores all my data like photos and videos from the camera, music, screenshots etc. etc. In /home/user I definitvely cannot find these files. Where are they? |

Re: Full file system access: OpenSSH + WinSCP
@leetut: I experience that WinSCP error too, just not as consistently as you seem to. At home, I connect to my basic Linksys Wireless G router and utilize WPA-PSK authentication and DHCP, and I have had no problems at all with WinSCP/SSH. At work, we have Cisco WAPs that provide coverage throughout the building, and I set them up with WEP-PSK authentication, and I use a static IP address. At work is where I experience the Network Error: Connection refused on an inconsistent basis. WinSCP will work for a few minutes, then I'll get the error. Sometimes if I close WinSCP and re-open, it won't let me reconnect, sometimes it will let me. Sometimes if it won't connect, I just wait a minute or two, and then it will connect. Strange. It's not a signal strength issue, because I'll be right next to the AP. It's not a static IP issue, because I switched to DHCP just to check. It's not a general connectivity issue, because I can ping both ways even when getting the error. I'll be doing some further troubleshooting to try and figure out what my particular issue is, but you may want to try connecting through a different wireless router or change your wireless authentication method to see if its your router or its setup that may be the source of your issues.

Re: Full file system access: OpenSSH + WinSCP
When everything fails, blame the router:
trendnet, belkin, etc.. |
