Not trying to put you down, just trying to get you to be realistic. Once the latest optimised version of psx4all is out (which should be quite soon, by the looks of things) that will be a solution for you..

Best thing to do is keep an eye on these threads.. :)

Depends on the game. Like I say, wipeout 3 runs fine..

I wondered several times about it myself. There are a lot of ports of rpgs or fps but no simulations (driving / aircraft etc).

I will gladly wait for PSX emu, and I will not pressure anyone to port a driving game. But there's nothing wrong with wondering and asking politely.

And stop telling people 'Go port it yourself'. Not everyone has the skills. If he was rude, then you might be justified having said that. However; if he was polite' it's like asking if a faster model of ferrari has been built and they tell you to go build it yourself..

Ups.. that exactly what I did in previous post, but wasn't my intention to hurt anybody here. It was rather respond to "words of wisdom" in this same style that at the end of the day are only the words if no action behind it. This community have great supporters, and for example smoku is the leader in game area for me. He is the best person to port any open source game to N900 IF AVAILABLE. Question is, do we know any Open Source project regards to racing games going on? The fact is most of developer fun clubs are doing some RPG/strategy games.

The reason? Hmm... I think satisfaction from this development last longer. Since strategy games by nature have long life time. Personally I haven't seen any racing game in Open Source meaner.

Re: Why do racing games for N900.

There are some cool open source driving games e.g. SuperTuxKart or TORCS but they need some libraries like OpenAL or Irrlicht which I'm not sure we can get in Maemo's repositories. Maybe someone will try to port it, I'd really like to play SuperTuxKart especially.

VDrift is also an open source race game. It would be really great to see one of those on the N900.

Seven posts of a really off-topic thread on the same subject were moved here.

Re: 3D Driving Game for N900?

The Samsung Bada OS comes with Asphalt 5 by default, looks exactly like the iPhone version but the Super AMOLED screen is superb.

Recently, my friend just downloaded Need For Speed Shift for his Samsung Wave, and it's FREE.

Before he bought the Wave, at first I told him Bada OS isn't going anywhere and such. But it seems, it wasn't the case, it's Maemo that dead, only surviving ON THE COMMUNITY. Nokia has abandon the ship, even the latest Flash 10.1, it was announce for SYMBIAN and MEEGO, no mention of Maemo.
Read up on Adobe forums, seems Nokia is to be blame and Nokia is very protective, doesn't allow Adobe to say any word, not even letting N900 owners know whether IT WILL COME OR NOT. But seeing the list, they even mentioned Symbian and MeeGo, leaving out Maemo.

How about Need for Madness???

It is a fun game like a mix of Carmageddon and Need for Speed except with crap graphics which is a great thing since it could be decent on the N900.
Based on java, maybe a port is possible?

PS: Need4Madness 2 is in the works with multiplayer, new & highly detailed cars, new maps, larger & highly detailed maps and should've been released on 1st June. Guess it could be dropped and become vaporware, but they have a mailing list for your convenience.
