Just install Easy Debian and get hdparm with "apt-get install hdparm" in Easy Debial terminal.

Do the test with: hdparm -tT and the device to test.
You could also install it from Jebba's Debian Etch repository... ;)

Or download the package file directly (I did that and it works)... ;)
