Since the app is in continuous loop and using cpu cycle, do you have any comment on battery drain?
My wish is to have the address book serve as the database or simply a text file. Is this doable?

Have a look into mycontacts if you haven't already....

I haven't seen any change in the battery life with mycontacts (haven't tried this script) but both use the same idea: listen to dbus messages
