I personally believe that the reason there are soo few apps is because the development process is soo bad.

I think they should create an add-on for Qt for the N900 which will allow you to build and test the app in Qt, and when you ready hit the package button ready for deployment to Meamo repositories. Imagine how many developers would go for this platform if they could start developing without spending days and days googling??

I am neither a fanboy of Nokia nor a supporter. I have had phones from most of the different manufacturers and this phone was chosen as I needed a phone which I could change and make it behave like I wanted to do…even “do” the things I wanted to.

If I can’t complete a development lifecycle soon for my “Hello World” program, I might be tempted to ditch Maemo for the Android platform…. But we shall see. I have spent a few weeks on this now and am determined to succeed!

That looks like a well exaggerated argument to me. I wouldn't mind to hear some backup from your end about it.

If you know anything about design factors then any company worth their salt will either re-design or cut there losses and bring out a complete new design altogether.
As the N900 lost it's credibility very fast due to this problem is probably the reason.

The thing is everyone knows the n900 is a one-of-a-kind device that is going to be community supported very soon. Unless you live in a cave, you know this. You may not have known it last fall, but you know it for sure now.

So, yeah, the next linux device isn't going to be the n900, and it's going to run meego, which may run on the n900 but isn't going to be officially supported on the n900.

We should have a NEW topic about this with a non-descriptive title at least three times a day, just to make sure we all know this. Because we may have forgotten since the last topic.

BTW, meego is SWEET on a netbook. I just got around to putting it on my acer this weekend. If the ux on a phone-sized device is done right, it will be very good ;)
