Even after rebooting and trying other stuff, the "default" always has the same problem. But at least I can recreate the layout and wont have to flash the system or anything major as I was fearing

Ok, after trying to remake my old desktop configuration, with various widgets and whatnot, I am getting the "processes at 100%" problem once again... which leads me to believe it's related to that somehow

Specifically, it happened when I added the RSS feed widget

You could, although if you open the terminal you can see which processes are running by using the command "top"

top is only showing that xrog is the top consuming cpu but i think there is other backgrounded applications, which cpu-application do you recommend ?

I personaly use conky and just run "top" in xterm if i need a more comprehensive list, the other advantage of conky is that it can be used as a live desktop backround via live wallpaper i have it as my number 1 controll screen.

The RSS widget is definitely the reason the CPU drain starts again. As soon as the widget starts, icons disappear and the processes got o 100%

Does anyone know how to kill the rss widget?

And is there any way to uninstall it/reinstall it?

I'm having the same problem. Xterminal shoes that "/usr/bin/osso_rss_feed_reader" is constantly consuming 70-95% of the CPU. I've removed the rss feed reader from my desktop and also removed and uninstalled the AP News headline widget. However I can't figure out how to uninstall or kill the RSS feed reader!! Frustrating, my N900 doesn't last for more than six hours on a full charge

try typing dpkg --get-selections rss*

that should regex the name rss and look for applications with name rss on it.

I did that and nothing came back but I tried "dpkg --get- selections osso*" and got a list longer than what the display could hold! What is "osso"? I'm a noob with the Linux, it's very interesting though. Anyway, these are the things that showed pertaining to "rss feed reader" (there were more that were too far up for me to view).

osso-rss-feed-reader-l10n-dede install
osso-rss-feed-reader-l10n-engb install
osso-rss-feed-reader-l10n-enus install
osso-rss-feed-reader-l10n-eses install
osso-rss-feed-reader-l10n-esmx install
osso-rss-feed-reader-l10n-fifi install
osso-rss-feed-reader-l10n-frca install
osso-rss-feed-reader-l10n-frfr install
osso-rss-feed-reader-l10n-itit install
osso-rss-feed-reader-l10n-mr0 install
osso-rss-feed-reader-l10n-nlnl install
osso-rss-feed-reader-l10n-nono install
osso-rss-feed-reader-l10n-plpl install
osso-rss-feed-reader-l10n-ptpt install
osso-rss-feed-reader-l10n-ruru install
osso-rss-feed-reader-l10n-svse install
osso-rss-feed-reader-lib

why so much?! Is there anythin I can kill/uninstall any of this?
