Already there. I see more people playing angry birds and such on their smart phones than using productivity applications. Well that and posting fb updates about what they ate for lunch...

Lol dammit! There goes my only serious alternative to the Nokia N9. :(

Both WP7 and android now have heavyweight hardware vendors backing them, this makes it a dangerous business for Samsung et-al to rely on them as a third parties.

With HP ditching their low-margin consumer hardware business WebOS for printers doesn't make much sense, so perhaps Samsung would like to buy WebOS?

I was serious thinking buying a palm pre or a touchpad go as a posible alternative to N9...now the N9 will be the only and last true linux device :(

What's stopping you from picking up a Pre device? If anything the news will no doubt mean that you could pick one up much cheaper now and ride the Community support waggon :)

...wait, that sounds a little too familiar ;p

I really don't understand why HP didn't join the Meego effort a year ago, both they and Nokia would have won out of that. Regardless of whether they were actually being built from Meego, or were just compliant enough (surely that wouldn't have been too hard, WebOS is close enough in some terms to Meego) to mean that developers could confidently develop for Meego and target WebOS, Harmattan and vanilla Meego, it would at least have given a multi-vendor ecosystem a chance.

Once they saw there was a viable ecosystem, reducing the costs and accelerating time to market by merging into vanilla Meego would have made sense.

...and as I was told by my wife "Does this mean Project Runway needs to get new tablets for their designers?"

I laughed and begged for the channel to go back to BBCA/Top Gear.

I wonder though if HP has any other sort of sponsorship based on their now defunked tablets.

Oh hell no!

This year's personal "hate" words:
1) ecosystem
2) deliver
3) ...

USD$99 for a 16GB TouchPad, $149 for a 32.

Who gives a **** about ecosystems with a price like that.

Did you actually see them for sale at that price, or are you just speculating/daydreaming?
