Re: UKMP 1.7 concept image. Comments needed
Hello,
I think that the new design is looking great! In both 1.6 and 1.7alpha2 I'm finding that it won't recognise m4a files properly. Are they working for other people? If I run from xterm I see messages like: Removing /media/mmc1/01 Court And Spark.m4a since we could not identify it sufficiently No cover appears for m4a files, but one of the ones on my mmc plays if I press play in ukmp. These are files without drm made from cd's. |

Can you send me one of the not working m4a files? I can debug and fix the problem if it's easily fixable. urho.konttori 2 gmail.com |

Hi. Really like the new look. The larger album sleeves look great. Is it possible to configure UKMP to read album art either from an embedded image in the mp3 or from a jpeg in the album folder, rather than downloading them from the internet? My copy of "Substance" by New Order is currently displaying a Bruce Springsteen cover:eek:

Well, just delete the cover from your mmc/covers folder. Then restart ukmp. It is now able to get covers from id3 tags. However, if it notices a cover in the covers folder, it will use that instead. So, if a previous version had downloaded a wrong cover, it will use those.
bmoon: thanks for the file. I'll try to debug today. |

Great work on the media player.
Quick question - does UKMP require python runtime version 2.4 or 2.5? I'm having trouble installing 2.5 for some reason, and the player can't install properly with version 2.4 on my N770. |

The app hangs the system very frequently, this seems to be induced when using the keypad.
Are there any tests you would like me to do so as to give you a fix on the issue? |

love 1.7 konttori. Using my tablet more and more as a mediacenter than an internet tablet now, because of kagu and ukmp.
you guy rock, keep up the good work. can't wait to see UKMP after more of a coverflow makeup. |

You need python 2.5 runtime. Note that you need to uninstall python 2.4 and all software using python 2.4 before you can install python 2.5.
Great to hear that 1.7 is working for most of the people though. |

Thanks, I got it installed. I think the hackers repository doesn't mix well with python 2.5, after I deleted that, it installed fine.
Great work on the 1.7alpha2 player too! I've been using it for a bit today, and have the following comments: 1. The order of the albums doesn't look alphabetical? Oh wait, I just looked again, the order is Right to Left, instead of Left to Right. Also, is there a way to ignore "The" in the artist title so "The Bravery" albums are shown next to the other "B" artists (like Bush for example) 2. I think the D pad could be much more useful if it scrolled a whole screen at a time, (4 album widths instead of one album). it would make browsing the albums much easier 3. I would also like to see a simple scrollable Artist view, in addition to the album view. Since many artists have multiple albums, it would make searching for an artist much quicker, if you didn't want to browse all the album covers. 4. And while we're at it, how about a "Genre" view :) 5. I think you mentioned somewhere about moving the text for the top row of albums above the covers to avoid confusion - that would be nice. 6. I agree for making scanning for new album art, a menu option. This could allow for quicker load times. A blank album place holder could be used until you decided to update them. 7. I noticed a bunch of songs from different artists got put into a "Music" album? Probably because they are lacking proper ID3 tags, but I think I'd rather see them grouped by artist with an "unkown" album icon. 8. Also, I would like to specify which folder(s) I want UKMP to scan for media, since I do not want the whole device scanned every time, and don't want certain folders scanned. I keep youtube videos in a seperate folder and delete the videos often. UKMP makes a preview icon for the videos that stays in the album directory after I delete the video file. Then I have to manually search for, and delete that file, which can be cumbersome. So far, everything I've seen is very promising. even in its incomplete stage, I think your new UKMP is already better than many other media players for maemo!! Keep up the good work! |
