Re: SFOS on F(x)tec Proš: progress, issues, tricks, free chat
Do we really need to spread the tiny amount of information out there over even more channels? Is the aim to make it even harder to find out anything and discourage as many new users as possible?

OK, I'm game to give it a try... how do I access your telegram group from SFOS on the Pro1? What software should I install? Telegram homepage is no help, t.j.c says use Depecher which doesn't seem to entirely work - I cant find any contacts, but others who know my phone number can apparently see me.

Re: SFOS on F(x)tec Proš: progress, issues, tricks, free chat
I got permanently banned from Telegram, apparently from using my account on too many clients (was experimenting to find the best SFOS client). Will info still be posted here?

So, moved here from the "Are you Ready?..." thread.

Re: SFOS on F(x)tec Proš: progress, issues, tricks, free chat
I've noticed an issue with the keyboard: after booting, the software keyboard does not pop up in a text field until the hardware keyboard has been opened and closed once. Any idea how to fix this?

Re: SFOS on F(x)tec Proš: progress, issues, tricks, free chat
With a keyboard phone that sounds not the most annoying issue. Changing a phone to one with no hwkb could be one solution. Or is there a reason for prefering software keyboard? Like I use software keyboard with N900 only for special characters cause have never bothered to learn how to get the special characters with hwkb. Needing %[{|ŋ^ not too often but sometimes.

@acrux how long did you wait with the fxtec Logo shown? I remember, when I flashed Sailfish on my device. I also thought I wasn´t succesful. So I flashed 4 times, only to recognize that first boot takes ages. I think it was around 5 minutes but I thought the device stuck on boot screen.

Followed the procedure carefully, got the TWRP installed, SailfishOS installation produced the same output. This time waited for more than 15 minutes. Still no joy :D Returning to LineageOS was straightforward and nonproblematic process... |
Re: SFOS on F(x)tec Proš: progress, issues, tricks, free chat
I use Sailfish on my Fxtec. On 2828th of April, I have manually called zypper refresh & update. A bunch of packages got updated, including droid, pulseaudio, and jolla calculator, if I remember correctly. After that, camera is black, photographs are fine, but taking photographs while flying blind is very inconvenient. Reboot did not change anything. When calling camera from command line, I get "signal 'show-frame' is invalid for instance '0xac244200' of type 'GstDroidEglSink'". I hope it is easy enough to resolve because I do not want to have to downgrade - if it is even possible .
Thank you. Best wishes. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Per aspera ad astra... |
Re: SFOS on F(x)tec Proš: progress, issues, tricks, free chat
Confirmed. I don't use the camera much, so hadn't spotted it before.
Someone with access to a working Telegram app and/or a desire to sign up to yet another media flypaper could go over to https://t.me/sfos_user_pro1 and ask? In other news, anyone else get a small unexpected package from FxTec this morning? Some alcohol wipes and a couple of stickers, with a note attached. I still don't understand why 'phone cleanliness' is a thing in particular, unless you're in the habit of letting strangers lick your phone , but a nice touch to raise a smile on a grey morning :) Nice one FxTec! |

Worked for me, camera operation is restored :)

Re: SFOS on F(x)tec Proš: progress, issues, tricks, free chat
Camera doesn't even take photographs anymore. GUI seems to think that the device has zero SIM slots. zypper update seems to be more dangerous than I have ever seen apt-get upgrade to be.
Regarding zypper in --oldpackage nemo-qtmultimedia-plugins-gstvideotexturebackend-0.1.0-1.6.1.jollazypper in --oldpackage nemo-gstreamer1.0-interfaces-0.20191010.0-1.6.1.jolla , Packages still not found - are they inside register-with-Jolla repositories, or something? Re: SFOS on F(x)tec Proš: progress, issues, tricks, free chat
With the latest zypper ref, pkcon ref, and version --dup, the issue with the multiple partitions showing up and the SDcard not being accessable persist.
Is there a way to manually fix that via the command line? |
Re: SFOS on F(x)tec Proš: progress, issues, tricks, free chat
Created Jolla account. Even with access to store repo, couldn't downgrade the two packages - not found. So, I tried zypper refresh & update again, and this time, I included the 12 packages (including libhybris) were previously held back by conflict with gcc-5.2. This time, when I tried to reboot after upgrade, Fxtec Pro got stuck on splashscreen. Beautiful but entirely unhelpful. The only idea I have now is to attempt to flash the device again, as I did after accidentally formatting system partitions.
Thank you. Best wishes. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Per aspera ad astra... |
Re: SFOS on F(x)tec Proš: progress, issues, tricks, free chat
No, didn't help either. Flashing went fine, splashscreen is now back to default, but, still stuck on this splashscreen, with shining white LED in the corner, whatever that means.
Any further ideas? Thank you. Best wishes. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Per aspera ad astra... |
Re: SFOS on F(x)tec Proš: progress, issues, tricks, free chat
Installed Sailfish OS anew with TWRP. Beforehand, I managed to persuade TWRP to back up the data onto a memory card. Now, I have got to somehow recover it from data.ext4.win00* files. How?..
Hopefully, it does include all home directory. Thank you. Best wishes. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Per aspera ad astra... |

After I reinstalled Sailfish OS, as I was recovering files and settings, operating system apparently had a bright idea to install updates - I didn't call for them in command line. While videos play fine, camera doesn't work at all - so looking for an old version of nemo-gstreamer1.0-interfaces to downgrade to. No success, so far: https://build.merproject.org/search seems to have only 20150126, which is way too ancient. What is the command to get zypper to downgrade packages to proper versions? Because I don't know which packages were upgraded above their working versions? Thank you. Best wishes. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Per aspera ad astra... |

1 Attachment(s)
After reboot, no active SIM cards inserted, device pretends that it has zero SIM card slots - history is repeating itself. At least, the device is surprisingly still booting, but I don't have much hope it will last long.
Should I try to switch to release 3.3, to avoid the update issues of 3.2.1.20? Thank you. Best wishes. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Per aspera ad astra... epninety, storma: What is the repo for old nemo-gstreamer1.0-interfaces? Might be found with zypper info , for example? Re: SFOS on F(x)tec Proš: progress, issues, tricks, free chat
I'm not sure which of the recent updates changed things, but I noticed yesterday that I now get a stable bluetooth connection to my car, which I've never had before. (It used to connect for 10s then drop).
Sadly it doesn't route audio to the car, and the dialler hung so I couldn't disconnect the call, but still, it's progress :) |
Re: SFOS on F(x)tec Proš: progress, issues, tricks, free chat
I've noticed that when playing audio over a headphone jack, the audio has huge stutters - as in it will stop for three or four seconds, play a tench of a second of sound or so, then go silent again - when the display goes to sleep. If I press the button to wake the display, the sound resumes playing normally.
This does not happen over bluetooth. I think it may be a bug in the power management, but I don't know where to go from here to debug it. |
