Update: wazd, did you do this in vector format? If so, can you send it to tim [at] samoff [dot] com?

Also... What if you made the middle black box slightly transparent so that the apps could be seen through it? Then, you could make it much bigger.

Thanks,
Tim

Have no doubt. :)

agreed :)

and just for reference, i would love a shirt that's a bit of a tighter fit than your standard unisex shirt.

Well, since it looks like unnecessary add-on I think there'll be no problems with it. It's not like throwing "M" in "IBM" downstairs :)

Boring and obvious. I like wazd's sticker way better. But at least you have not used the obligatory "paradigm" keyword :)

To my mind the list of devices is slightly senseless for people who don't know what it's all about. Just a row of random numbers and letters. Maybe we we can come up with something more serious than my "stuff in trunk" (but it's cool anyway :D ) but a little less generic than "open source community collaborative" cause I really can't see bumper sticker as something serious :)

Ah, but having a cool "I'm in the club" bumper sticker is just so cool... Those oval Euro stickers are always pushing the "I know something that you don't" threshold." But, be my guest. Lets come up with something that everyone likes!

BUT! There's not much time left (like this weekend), so act fast! :)

Thanks,
Tim

Well, considering "I'm in the club" I think that "I have loads of packages in my trunk" fits pretty well cause:
- It's anyway fun for all the people who don't know the real meaning
- It's fun for all people who know what does this mean :)

And if we'll think of some mistery then I'd suggest to remove the text and just leave 770-800-810-900 :)

IMNSHO:
  • I don't like the ".org" split from the "maemo".
  • European car country stickers aren't nearly as cool if you're European. In fact, they look derivative and boring.
  • No colour :-(

I may be forgetting things (or being overly harsh), but I blame Jussi, lcuk and crashanddie. Oh, and BFI Southback/Nando's and onedotzero.

Ok... Maybe it was just the word order that I wasn't liking. What about (on the top):

I've got a trunk in my package

Now, that's humor! :D

And, instead of device numbers we could do (on the bottom):

Mistral Scirroco Grigale Bora Chinook Diablo Mer Fremantle Harmattan

Yeah, but I submitted that idea 20 days ago and haven't heard one complaint until now.

These stickers are usually b&w. And, it would be one of a couple of different types of stickers.

I don't mind the opinions, but we are trying to firm up the final designs/formats now.

Re: Maemo Summit 2009 merchandise and design...

The sticker is cool and I'm European

maemo.org split in two rows or not: no strong opinion

what about 'open source collaboration' on the top. good to satisfy insiders and to attract the interest of outsiders in the nearby. the sentence make sense to most of the Maemo target group.

Packages & trunks all recall me to a Linuc teck elite speaking to themselves, something that is not even representative of the current Maermo community as a whole.

Device names is much sorter and much possible to be understood by many. If you see 'maemo' and 'N900' in a sticker pus 'open source collaboratio' and you still don't get it no worries: you are not target and you won't get any variant of the sticker anyway.

About vazd proposal we already have vazd sticker will all the projects names and flag shape, which is cool.

Re: Maemo Summit 2009 merchandise and design...

I'm European and the sticker is too cool (negatively. sorry).
  • Splitting the Logo is an absolute no-go. "maemo.org" is the logo and can't be cut in half. It's an abuse, a sin!
  • I really don't get it about Euro Stickers. In fact, with the EU, the car country stickers have been abolished and are not in use anymore.
  • I don't like the insider jokes around it. They border on "nerd arrogance" (a debian illness  ).

Please: Let's keep it simple for the stickers, just use the default logo design like last year! Less is more.

(However, I like the T-Shirt design very much :) )

IMO:
OPEN SOURCE COLLABORATION on top is good and makes the link between the community and the maemo OS. The one with the trunk is funny. maemo.org splitted makes sense because makes the text bigger, underlines "maemo" word, and the fact that the community website is at dot org is still visible on the second line is ok. Device name on the bottom is too much information, I like the continued curved line instead.

Cool. I'll upload a new version sometime this weekend and we'll call it quits on sticker design.

I'd like to see this, if budget allows:
  • wazd's sticker (around 6x5 or closest proportional dimensions)
  • Euro bumper sticker
  • A smaller m.o sticker (like the small one from last year)

Re: Maemo Summit 2009 merchandise and design...

Good news and bad news.

Stickers are on its way. I even got samples. The oval is great, the flag is good and the small maemo.org logos are ok. the difference is the printing dots being too thich to my taste. No problem when you look from a distance or with pure colors, but that gray and orange from a clores distance...

Most people won't even notice.

The bad news is that today the shirt provider based in Amsterdam said that they need the payment in advance in order to proceed. After these weeks of discussions. I called to ask whether an exception can be made since I can't just pull the money from my company. The answer was that Nokia is not in their customer list and there they couldn't trust it..... My feeling is that the problem was somewhere else in the short term deadline they had now but who cares. The fact was that this morning I had to look for another provider.

Which I did and they think they can still make it on time. All this had to happen the single day in the last 2 months that I'm out of Helsinki without my laptop but such is life. I'm about to pick the train back to Helsinki to post the details.

Everything was in the wiki except the final list of shirts / gender / sizes, shared only between the provider, Tim and myself. You always will find that more openness is needed, no matter how open you are already working. :)

Un-frigging-believable.

Thanks, Quim!

Since you didn't have your laptop, did you handle everything with your N900?

I find that the best thing to do is e-mail myself important information so that I can grab it "from the cloud" wherever I am.
