I aint sure in Delhi, but in Chennai, VMC connects fine. The phone actually detected the VMC and installed the settings automatically once I plugged in my SIM.

Vodafone has changed their customer care service from toll free to paid.. u r charged from the moment the care executive picks up the phone.

Vodafone makes you pay for everything and now the paid customer care thing :p

I switched to Airtel long time back in 2005.

Btw my elder brother told me that Idea has some gprs plan for 98/month and some 70MB limit /day. He is using it. Just felt like sharing because N900 without Internet is boring.

Has anybody tried getting N900 repaired at Nokia Care Point in India? I seem to have bricked mine and flasher tools is not helping too. Wanted to get it checked by Nokia, do they repair it in India as it has not been launched here yet?

i dont think nokia india centers will even touch it...untill the phone is officially released here. if nothing works wait for a while till phone releases and once tat happens u cn get it repaired frm nokia centers

Well....If u read the Thread from the start You would had not missed ME.....LOL

I had bought 2 N900(preordered from Uk and one from UAE) arrived in Dec..and since than proud owner of it from MUMBAI!!!

I use MTNL 3g...and it works wonder!!! awesome speed and now they have spread to all over mumbai!.....
Well The UK one has been upgraded to PR1.2 ....mine still waiitng for its release! any help let me know....

Well you can count me in as wel.....N900 owner in mumbai...i hv it since jan. Am usinng vodafone, would love to use mtnl 3g but cant change my no since hv been using it more than 10 years...may be no portability comes i will. i am using vodafone mobile connect. 250 Rs 100Mb per month. for now its ok...i am using nokia messaging and GPs as well.

Nokia Messaging is inbuilt into N900 unlike any other Nokia Phones. You dont need to install it. You jus click on mail icon and then from list of providers you should see nokia messaging. And from there you add whichever accounts u want. I have added gmail and hotmail....and i get mails almost instantly.

PS: You need data package for this so when it comes to vodafone u require vmc and it wont work with live !

well...i dont get gps signal here...but it downloads maps...strange

i use vodafone live monthy package ...but i cant use conversations app..lol..
i find the gprs plan cheap for interne t usage..but i guess that vodafone mobile conncet will be expensive...
so any ideas how to enable vodafone mobile connect...i stay in mumbai

Oh..So its for mails....Well I use the straight forward mail setting provided for all the email provider..i use gmail and my Company account!
I thought Nokia messaging was kinda similar Blackberry messenger(BBM) where we can be in touch with friends......does nokia provide that features...!!!

gps,conversations nothing will work at all with gprs(live).
you need a data pack connection for this(vmc).
The one i am using is 250rs for 100 MB i m fine with with for now since nothing else is available. Guess 3g on mtnl gives 300-400rs for 1gb.

Bro....any network in 2G....i personally used 699Plan 1GB for vodafone and it sucked big time,wasted my money for months...But yy that time MTNL 3G came as GOD to me...

I know by the time 3G arrives in India...new Nokia N900 model will come up..so why miss the fun!

Nokia Messaing is the the Push Email Service like blackberry...where you get notification as soon as you receive mail. You dont need to refresh the mail and download and check all mails time to time.

Like an sms , you receive mail u get popup u check mail instantly !When you read a mail it also get read in ur mailbox.
Well nothing like blackberry messenger but dnt feel the need for that as all other messengers are there yahoo,gmail,msn etc now with new update even facebook Im chat is available. so no need of that for me atleast!

depends where u bought ur phone from....if u got from UK u should see it ...my phone is from US preorderd from amazon and i dnt hv it yet.

there is no relation of using the ph one in india. Depends where u got it from !

@xperto - it should but 26th has not ended and there is still time. So have patience and wait till tomm and see if it comes..am waitng too.

@normaltusker: u cant atleast officially at nokia centers. u can try local ppl but at ur risk!

even mine is from UAE.... So DOnt worry Today u will be updated.....When The UK patch was launched......It got updated only after 3PM indian standard time!

So i guess we will have to wait till afternoon!

Nokia service wont touch it...bcause its not in India yet! and ur phone carries the warrenty from where u bought it.

So....u can take online help for software in maemo for ur problem...there are many experts here to solve it out!

but if its hardware....whats the problem..BUT!!!

has any one tried Video call using PR1.2 in INDIA!!! I have flashed Global version and have BSNL 3G with data plan.??

I can't see any video call option under Call/Phone.

Direct video calling.. The options that we haev in phones like Nokia N95 and other symbian 3G phones.

Well..... I had the same question in mind?
i guess the video call feature is for Skype ..i have asked this question to couple of threads....but none have replied yet!

So if u have flashed it to 1.2 and u didnt find any video call option than alas...Will have to wait till meamo announces a video call option throught 3g in next Update!!!:(

I had ckecked some user-guide of pr1.2 from Nokia which said we can make video calls(Internet calls)...

What I heard from guys in US is that Skype in US is free so they can call any one with Skype!! But this is not the case for us in India, so probably Nokia would not provide this in next update too.

Still with skype account i cant find any video calling onption in phone or contacts.

ok..If u want to make video calls from skype....i saw and read one forum of how to make SKYPE Video calls.....check it out! many had problems figuring it out! but see that ur online on skype before looking for Skype video call!!!

i think the video calls were only w.r.t skype. Anyways guys i can now see Maemo 5 Update available for my phone...i will do the same once i go home over wifi - it is 115mb. :D

Far as I have checked in the "RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.19-1.004_PR_COMBINED_004_ARM.bin" (India version) there is no Skype support.

So all my day is wasted and I might have to start all over again on Weekend unless there is a workaround.

At last N900 is released in India @ Rs.30639 [around $655].It wil be available from June.
