Re: Extra Decoders Support for the N900
There seems to be a really weird conflict when this particular dependency is not versioned and there are other packages depending on it, I still cannot find anything unusual. I will check once again when I have more time.
By the way, I've updated my signature yet again, thanks for your kind donations! |
Re: Extra Decoders Support for the N900
Hi,
I have manually installed (x-term, i have a faulty wireless connection at the moment and just downloaded via usb all the files from packages) all the dependencies needed for the decoder. After installation and restart, my media player will not play any files, I can scroll through my list of music, but none of them will play. I have apt-get purge all the gstreamers, decoders-support, ogg-support. The problem still persists... please help.. |
Re: Extra Decoders Support for the N900
I found the problem, stupid of me.
I installed libgstreamer0.10-0 0.10.23-git305-0maemo5+0m5 from (PR1.0). Re-installed libgstreamer0.10-0 0.10.25-0maemo4+0m5 all problems solved... |
Re: Extra Decoders Support for the N900
Hi there,
I have a problem. I installed EDS, and worked everything fine, exept the flac meta data reading in the Media Player. Later I solved this problem (re-encode the files with dbpoweramp and mp3tag), so from that point I saw the artist names, albums and tracks and album covers. Yesterday the little yellow button said there is an update for ogg-support, so I installed it. After the installation when I opened the Media Player it said there is no music/video files.. I uninstalled the extra-decoders support, then the ogg-support, then I reinstalled the eds (with the built-in ogg-support), and I got my files back in MP. BUT THE FLAC FILES ARE NOT THERE AGAIN.. :( I tried to re-encode the files again with dbpoweramp and mp3tag, but no use. When I open the files from file manager it's playable but it says unknown artist/unknown song. I'm out of ideas... Please help! |
Re: Extra Decoders Support for the N900
I think there is an issue with one of the versions of ogg-support. I noticed this when I did a fresh install not so long ago. Which versions of EDS and ogg support do you have?
I have EDS 4.0 and OGG 1.0.6~rc1. I think it was 1.05 doesn't work, you may have to enable extras-devel to get 1.06. |
Re: Extra Decoders Support for the N900
I have exactly the same version of eds and ogg-support like you have.
But after two hours of doing nothing successful I convert my flac files to mp3. :D And of course it works. Wuhu. -.- |
Re: Extra Decoders Support for the N900
Recently upgraded ogg-support and all my music and photos disappeared from the mediaplayer and photo thing.
Solved by deleting the tracker db. Code:
rm -r ~/.cache/tracker |
Re: Extra Decoders Support for the N900
OK, I have installed EDS 0.4 with ogg support included and yesterday I updated ogg from 1.0.5 to 1.0.7 rc1 and now I have problems with custom alarm tones. When I choose an song (mp3) for alarm tone clock just crashes - Internal error Aplication Clock Closed - and I can't change it. Only works default tones. And every time when I try to reinstall decoders support it comes with ogg support 1.0.7rc1. Any help please?

I downgraded ogg-support from xterminal. Code:
apt-get install --reinstall ogg-support=1.0.5 |
Re: Extra Decoders Support for the N900
King thank you very much, I downgraded ogg support but I should to uninstall these packages manually gstreamer0.10-av and gstreamer0.10-maemo-xiph.
And now my Robert Miles - Children works again yeahh :) |
Re: Extra Decoders Support for the N900
You have Robert Miles, good taste, but I would listen this song before sleeping, not for waking me up. I need something louder, something like 2 Unlimited - Twilight Zone. :)
|
Re: Extra Decoders Support for the N900
You need lullaby before sleep :D
Similar to him I have also Kai Tracid - 4 just 1 day for alarm tone. Reason for these songs are that loud music frighten myself LOOL and these two are moderately loud. But I have really loud songs of course |

Re: Extra Decoders Support for the N900
yasirrfc, did you also uninstall gstreamer0.10-av, gstreamer0.10-maemo-xiph and tracker-extractor-flac.
Try first Code:
apt-get autoremove Code:
apt-get remove --purge gstreamer0.10-maemo-xiph gstreamer0.10-av tracker-extractor-flac |

Re: Extra Decoders Support for the N900
You can do it without any concerns and you can always go back (installing / reinstalling packages).
Code:
apt-get install --reinstall packagename Code:
sudo gainroot |
Re: Extra Decoders Support for the N900
yasirrfc did you finish it?
|
Re: Extra Decoders Support for the N900
If you have failed to do that than try my steps:
0. sudo gainroot 1. in Xterm do this: apt-get install --reinstall ogg-support=1.0.5 2. if you don't get a notice for apt-get autoremove like 'kolos' said to remove these packages gstreamer0.10-av, gstreamer0.10-maemo-xiph and tracker-extractor-flac 3. than you need to remove them manually from FAM in Advanced category. 4. I think this is the simplest way how to fix it. |
Re: Extra Decoders Support for the N900
Edit: ok, now that you edited your post, I removed this part not to confuse anyone

Re: Extra Decoders Support for the N900
I'm downgrading ogg-support:
apt-get install --reinstall ogg-support=1.0.5 apt-get remove --purge gstreamer0.10-maemo-xiph gstreamer0.10-av tracker-extractor-flac after that flac files are played, but media player does not show metadata. fix it only after: apt-get install --reinstall ogg-support=1.0.6~rc1 |
Re: Extra Decoders Support for the N900
after i reinstalled the latest ogg support, playing with someplayer seems to be normal again...

Re: Extra Decoders Support for the N900
I recently noticed that my N900 refused to play .flac files for me.
After removing Extras-devel and uninstalling ogg-support and decoders support, then reinstalling them, flac files work once again. Let's hope that there soon will be a new release in Extras-devel which fixes this. However it is outrageous that you uploaded a broken package. At least please test the basic usability before uploading it. |
Re: Extra Decoders Support for the N900
updated to today's gstreamer0.10-av 0.5-6.
flac files playing works again. no more need for downgrading! |
Re: Extra Decoders Support for the N900
can confirm it. flacs are playing now and seeking has been fixed. Would be nice if there would be 'official' announcements.
Also can the maintainer please comment on which packages this replaces e.g. which gstreamer packages can be removed. Or even better put this into the control file. |
Re: Extra Decoders Support for the N900
hi i keep getting this message when reverting back to a earlier version of ogg.
Could not get files by MIME type, Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken. i typed this to revert apt-get install --reinstall ogg-support=1.0.5 it repeats the above message about 5 times and in the end ogg is still installed. i'd unistalled prior due to the alarm clock alert problem then this morning i noticed a newer version of ogg like a div i installed it. any idea's? update : looked up installed programs and ogg.1.0.5 was installed, never remembered all the notices showing before. shall i continue with apt-get autoremove to remove packages gstreamer0.10-av, gstreamer0.10-maemo-xiph and tracker-extractor-flac. |
Re: Extra Decoders Support for the N900
I would enable the devel repository and update ogg-support without downgrading.
latest update does not have the alarm clock alert or any other problem that I can see. |
Re: Extra Decoders Support for the N900
updating this morning is what brought the problem back.
i haven't needed to autoremove the other packages and the alarm problem has now disapeared. will keep trying ogg updates when they occur and the problem is finally sorted. |
Re: Extra Decoders Support for the N900
I've searched the thread and I have found 2 or 3 matches without any particular answer, so, here I'll ask:
Can someone download any new video (480p and down - mp4 won't play because is bigger than 800x480) in .flv from youtube and try to play using the EDS? In my device it will just not work, will try to play and say that the media format is not valid. And I can't use other players because the main player is the only one that will catch the bluetooth requests (pause, next, prior) after locking the phone. Here is an example of the type of file failing: Code:
