It's not just you Kathy. This was the same for the intermediate update. Propgation seems to take sometime even throughout the same country.

All sorts of remarks about wanting to propagate run through my mind, but I'll refrain. And I must stop spamming up this thread till I actually have something to say.

Hmm... for being linux noobie it takes courage and ability to take some shame :). But hopefully I again learned something.

But I still have some other applications which blocks...

And I think that's blocking my update. So could somebody tell the commands how to remove that (and I don't need that anymore because now it's coming with the application itself)?

Ever thankful for help :D

And I managed to uninstall almost everything before I saw this. Yes, I have libqt4-phonon too. Removing that did the trick. ;)

Well, at least I got much more space in rootfs now! :p Used to be around 38 MB and now it's more than 60 MB. :D

Anyway, the update is now finally downloading...

I'd like to hear if you have noticed any differences in the UI.

Ok, I took off the 2gb Nokia microsd that came with my N82 and after restarting things feel snappy again. Weird. Then i put the microsd back, rebooted and things are still snappy, maybe a hair slower than without the card.

I'm downloading the firmware Image from the server. 158MB.
This would help reflashing if the update brick my N900

Re: Maemo 5 PR1.1 released today (January 14)

For me the update said that the tutorial applet cannot be installed because of conflicting packages. So I just clicked 'continue' and let rest of the update to run its course.

After update was finished, the tutorial applet was available in update manager and this time I was able to install it without problems.

I think I do not need that tutorial anymore, but I wanted to keep all 'official' stuf up-to-date.

I'm in London, UK and saw it an hour or so ago, not installing over 3G though as it will take too long - will wait 'til I go near some wi-fi :)

So why isn't cornwall getting it? Could it be my wifi connection is cached?

Such a shame that many people are so quick to blame the device if something is not working, and not even think about the applications they've pulled from devel for example that could hinder the device from working as intended.
If you download a malicious virus to your computer, it's not the computers fault if it doesn't work. (Not to say devel is full of viruses :D just gotta know what you're doing)

after apt-get dist-upgrade:

Code:

1044 upgraded, 6 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 93,6MB of archives.
After this operation, 6910kB disk space will be freed.
E: You don't have enough free space in /var/cache/apt/archives/.

what should I do? thanks..

mece 2010-01-14 08:58

Re: Maemo 5 PR1.1 released today (January 14)

I had conflicting packages (The app manager said I have to flash) so I updated with

apt-get install mp-fremantle-generic-pr

Worked fine, and no need to look for conflicting packages in that case.
The move apt cache fix is required though.

Added it to the freeing up rootfs space post. Number 3 here:

Re: Maemo 5 PR1.1 released today (January 14)

to be safe, you should disable all repos except the nokia ones before you do dist-upgrade. Safer to do apt-get install mp-fremantle-generic-pr

Does the same thing. and you need to move the apt-cache before doing it.
