Disliking social networks in general, i never even thought about signing up. These.days i'm rather obsessed with one question:

How can 400 million people be so silly and deliberately ignore the following:

- Fecesbook disabled the Wikileaks FB-Account today.
- Fecesbook gives a **** about your privacy.
- After making you reveal your real name, Fecesbook sells your data to corporations.

I'd love to see that website die. And it will.

just sign with a different name, then make friends with youur real friends who will know that's you.

i used this method, i keep in touch with friends far away (i'm an expat) and keep my privacy mine.

ithe success just relies on people being nosy about ... friends.

Now let's get this app working then.....

While I appreciate your right to an opinion and a point of view, and I don't even entirely disagree with you, I respectfully request that you keep on topic to this thread, which is, the Facebrick application.

Thanks.

Can you start 'facebrick' from xterm, and give me the *exact* message it gives you please?

It's a little hard to troubleshoot unless I can figure out what exactly is going on.

Thanks! :)

Nice work here!

One question. Actually i´m having this same issue with other apps with scrolling.

What is the point of showing background color change selection when tapping screen?

IMHO it just distracts.
If someone says that it shows where you click, but then i would ask that what do you do with that information? If you click wrong item it still opens it.

Honestly, I'm not sure either, but that's just the way the theming works. I do wish they had slightly better detection so it only triggered on a click and not a scroll though.

Thats an error I enountered.

Did you let Facebook authenticate properly? It happened to me when my user name and password wouldn't enter properly.

Try writing your password in the notes app, then copy and paste it into the password box of Facebrick. Same with your username if needbe.

Of course, it could be something completely different :p

I would say that this is app is not for you.

But I have installed it and I declare it to be good. Nice job, W00t. I know you are getting lots of feature requests, but I hope you keep it small and light...the reason I wanted such an app was because it can load quickly and I don't have to go through 17 clicks and scrolls to post a status.

Have I just created a new flame war? All purpose single apps vs. multiple single-purpose apps. I like the latter in this case.

I value a nice mix. But trust me, I won't let performance suffer from any of the features I work on.

Sometime, but not yet. I want to add more features (currently I've got most of comment viewing written but I've run into a bug somewhere, possibly in Qt, which is making it difficult to get it finished).

I also might wait until PR1.2 is out so the situation with the repos is properly sorted.

Not worth going off-track onto that on this thread, but I honestly doubt it will be that long. Given that the SDK is out, logically, it must be in some form of finalisation now.

Just kidding around. Happy to wait for 1.2 on this because I know it will sort out some QT stuff (not just some code issues, but also, it think, issues related to the amount of rootfs space QT is taking up). I will happily do the testing when it hits that repo.

Also, thanks for getting the QT facebook library in there (or just getting it up to date). I think it will be useful for other developers, especially as facebook is theoretically coming out with some geolocation add-ons any day now.

I have been speaking with the original author about getting my fixes (and future plans) upstream, and I have joined as coder/maintainer (upstream, that is, not just in Maemo) as of today.

I now have working comments (read and view) support.

I will be making a few final fixes and cleanups - some testing - and then I will probably package it as 0.2.

Since you are all visual people, attached is a screenshot - although it's pretty much the same as the main screen :)

v0.2 released!

I've had a productive day.

Will shortly be available via extras-devel (non-free as usual, I really need to read up on packaging and sort all that out this weekend - volunteers welcome.)

Features
- The ability to post, and read comments. To maintain the old behaviour of going to the FB website, use the action in the title menu when you click on a post.

Fixes
- Small memory leaks (most of which you wouldn't have noticed anyway)

Enjoy!

I'm not sure why it's not appearing. I've resubmitted it and hopefully that will kick the repositories into action. Sigh.

Nice one w00t! Works fantastic!

Just a quick thought, we need some time stamps, maybe next to the name? Kinda like the first window you see when you open the conversations app. (not sure if it has already been discussed though!).

Keep up the awesome work, I'm sure this app alone is going to save many peoples sanity with the N900! :D I've become quite at home "facebooking" by the browser, but with the smoothness of this app, quick viewing of facebook updates is a breeze!

Since you're now the second person to ask for this: I'll do it. ;)

I thought about this a lot myself during development. I decided that I will move text inputs down the bottom (like SMS/etc) and order newest at the bottom (like SMS/etc) - but I wanted to get the new code with comments out for wider usage first.

So, that will happen with v0.2.1 most likely.

I'll probably add liking for v0.2.1 too.

Re: My Facebook client for the n900

Version 2.0 looks great here :)

I've got two things to report:
1. New lines in people's comments/statuses are appearing as the "box" character.
2. A useful feature would be to show the number of comments after a status update. This could be something like "(2 comments)", in a greyer font then the status text.

Apart from those two things it's all good so far :D Thanks!

hey can i get a wOOt wOOt? lol

i have suggestion, when u click on a status the next window should include the posters status and box for comments, show all other comments, "like". comments should have time staps. so its kinda like your viewing posters profile page.

cheers

wOOt wOOt....it's da sound of da police!!! Lol....!!!!

Here's my thought on this app : love the integration with the UI of the N900. As others have mentioned, I'de also like to see the options to 'like' peoples status and also be able to see how many comments there are on a status.

As of now, when you tap on a status - it opens up Facebook via the browser - dunno about everyone else but I for one would actually prefer it if it did NOT do this....!( If I want to use Facebook via the browser - I just use the 'Facebook for Nokia' app on the Ovi Store. ) I would much prefer if when you tapped on a status, it just opens up that persons profile but keeping it integrated within the N900 interface (i.e. not opening up the browser)!!

Also, when I update my status, if I then go back to Facebook via a different platform (be it a pc, iPhone or whatever) it doesn't show that my status was updated via my N900 ( if I updated via Twitter or some other way, it always displays the relevant symbol or letter)......

Lastly - status updates from people other than friends ( i.e. if you follow groups like Xbox or games for example) just result in a blank status update even though their pic shows.....?!

All in all though - a top app.......!
