No, if you are unsure I think you should wait untill IzzehO posts, how you should do this. (At least thats what I do.)

New version added. Go grab it. Haven't included the GUI as its not exactly useful at the moment.. and includes some pretty serious instabilities. Update process should be pretty trivial.

New version seems to add compatability for a lot more games. Perfect Dark, Super Smash Bros, Mario Tennis... thats not to say they are playable... just that they now get passed the black screen.

Wow... download server is getting raped... too bad I got no way of tracking downloads..

mario kart 64 works almost full speed with no graphic glitches, with no sound @ 600mHz

Open GL 3D DSP graphic enable? Or is it still using CPU to rendering everything?

As has been said a dozen times... its working with the GPU, running OpenGL ES plugin designed for the Pandora... exactly why its currently playing much better than the PSX emu.

So your using the latest version? Any issues with the installation? Download server bearable enough?

Could someone make an UI for this? And also repacking it?

Is there away to get the OpenGLES to work with PSX4ALL? This would be insanely ground breaking!

I am using the latest version. No problems with updating from the older version. Your instructions are the easiest to follow that I have ever seen. They take away the fear of xterminal.

The new version is definately faster, with a few additional minor glitches. One strange occurance is that I am no longer able to play Rush 2. It crashes when I press start due to a segmentation fault. Rush 2 worked on the older version. I gained the ability to play Cruisn World and that didnt work before. Cars are invisible until you zoom out.

My N900 is OC 850Mhz

Thank you for your hard work and I look forward to every update, even without a gui.

Lol no worries. Should be thanking the Pandora devs and Javispedro though.. they are the real talent.

Also to game compatability... it seems for every 3-4 games they get working.. one dies :P This is only a source build though don't forget... chances are the broken ones were fixed the day after, or not broken the day before.

F-Zero X still runs fantastic if you want a basic racer... also has anyone tried Destruction Derby on the new version? I deleted it and am only on 2G

Now have accelerometer working as well as Proximity sensor. Needs a little more testing then I'll post up instructions for it!

Depends on what features the GUI should have. I guess I can quickly throw in another DrNokSnes-like GUI for launching/selecting ROMs, but adding GUI to map controls and/or the rest useless stuff would take quite a bit more.

That would be great and would that allow us to install it as a deb once the GUI has been added?

I have been a silent listener on this port due to it being at an early stage and i am not the best with the terminal so didn't want to clog the thread with idol chatter. Once a deb can be installed i will test and add any valuable info i can. ;)

That'd be awesome. I've love to see save states working at some level first though... that'd be great. I've looked into the upper layers of it.. and from what I can tell its the compile level its not working at. Also is there no way you could rework the other GUI for more advanced things? I'm sure many people would enjoy ugly but functional.

I think a rudimentary GUI with profiles would be enough. Ie. Keyboard, Accelerometer or PS3 controller config (I've got a working shell script to swap these now) and a frameskip change is all that is needed.

Will update first post in the next few hours with Accelerometer support if anyone is interested.

I've just updated to the newer version and my config files have been deleted so I need to set them up again.

Should I still be using:
GFX - gles2n64.so
Audio - dummyaudio.so
Input - blight_input.so

Yep... generally the intelligent place to start. Audio is definitely there, although I'd still recommend against it as it really slows down gameplay for some games.. and sounds terrible for the rest.

Newer version is in the first post with correct config files. But for the record that is correct.

@Javis, asked about gles2n64 stability over the last few days... he was aware of the texture screwup and it's been fixed in the latest version:

The newest revision (r20) i just uploaded today to the gles2n64 SVN is probably the best, it should fix the issues some games have with frameskip. It probably also fixes the texture problems I introduced yesterday.... I needed to convert I/IA textures to RGBA, but i don't fully understand why (i think its because the IA texture's RGBA =(I,0,0,A) in the fragment shader). Dynarec wise the best is the one I most recently linked to in the previous posts.

With some of the nice overclocks you guys are able to manage it'll probably run better than the pandora. :)

Comes for free in the next version of the gles2n64 plugin.

You'd be wrong, as in sensible parts of the world... we sort the logical way:
day-month-year.

If you read up two posts you'd see its the same with config files added...

Finally I erased all the files and it runs now! Mario is running full speed with overclocked N900 at 800!!! I'm going to test with a few games! Now it needs a GUI!!!

Re: How To: Nintendo 64 Emu for N900

Hi.

If I've understand this correctly, it's only gles2n64 that gets updated? Wouldn't it make sense to just upload that one then so we could just replace the old one? (and eventually "rm" the previous config file)

Sorry, i've some, but not much, Linux experience, so I may be wrong though.

Got some probs with the texture, seems as it can't display transparency anymore.

Like the cloud of the turtle camera guy has a black frame in Supermario 64.

If you'd put the year after it it would be really day-month-year (like we do it in Germany) but with only month and day (or day and month) it is always hard to guess. Also the sorting month-year is much more logical for a computer as it will sort them in the right order (all files from july after the files from june) with day-month it shows all files from all month's first, then the ones from all month's seconds, and so on. So logical for files is yyyymmdd and not ddmmyyyy.

@javispedro: How hard would it be for someone with minimal programming knowledge to make a GUI (like in drnoksnes) and compile it with the current version of muppen64 for the N900? Any guides and the like?

Now that's all done the emulator should be good to go. Create a symlink, to make it executable from any directory.
Code:

sudo ln -s /home/user/.mupen64plus/mupen64plus /usr/bin/mupen64plus
that's the part i got trouble with... i always get the message
ln: /usr/bin/mupen64plus: File exists

what to do now?

That means that your symlink already exists. In this case you can that ingore creating the symlink and continue on.
