Consider reinstalling them by:
sudo gainroot
apt-get install --reinstall hildon-theme-alpha
apt-get install --reinstall hildon-theme-beta

Latest update consumed about 3Mbs of rootfs, maybe due to some non-optified packagaes? defoma for example.

It's the imagemagick package that's not optified which theme-customizer depends on.

Why you need imagemagick?
Is it for the opacity option you've added?

Yep, I change opacity of few png's on the fly.

Why you use imagemagick? You can do it with Qt
Check your PM box!

Are you sure you're using 0.9-9?

If so, then please share these infos:
what theme you're using?
what language?
what font you're trying to set and what size?

About desktop staying empty; it's something that just happens sometimes. You can kick it alive from terminal with this command:
dsmetool -t /usr/bin/hildon-home

No widgets should get lost if you start the hildon-home with above command.

Agreed. All previous versions have worked fine for me, but the update I installed about 12 hours ago is not behaving correctly. When I got the update I lost my humanity-icons. When I try to change the icons I also click Auto Reboot and Save & Reboot. The banner only gets as far as saying "Setting up font". Then the banner goes away, and never proceeds to the next step. The customizer window remains open. Then if I manually close the window, a second customizer window immidiately launches. I am able to close the second copy normally. This behaviour is repeatable for me, even after multiple reboots.

I had no problems.. worked like a charm. It got reverted back to the default theme as i upgraded the humanity-theme at the same time. But i just restarted and chosed the humanity-theme again.

Please check you're using the latest version (run update @ app manager).

Also try to set Widget Opacity to 100% and see if it still jams at the first pop-up and report back how it goes.

If it still doesn't work, please tell me what theme are you using and what font family and size you're trying to set.

Sounds like it never gets to point where it sets colors. Does this happen also if you set widget transparency to 100%?

And what does this tell as "Status" -field:
dpkg -s imagemagick

One thing came in to my mind; have you manually edited or removed some images from theme's images -directory?

Okay, then I've located the problem :)
I needed to add some if-file-exists -statements into my code. Will upload new version soon.

Update is on it's way now. Should take like 20-30 mins before it's available to download.

And bad news in general:
I just accidently deleted the whole goddamn project folder of version 1.x which had almost_working_version of background changer :-(

If anyone knows how to recover deleted folder @ Ubuntu (I used rm -command), please share the knowledge with me.

Hi D-IiviI,

I saw this question asked in a different thread and wanted to know what you thought and if it is possible etc...

"When you select an item from the menu, the icon is given a little outer glow to indicate that it's in its pressed state.

Is it possible to use these highlights on the desktop?

Currently I have my icon background and icon pressed state background disabled (for aesthetic reasons) but would love to have this outer glow as the pressed state.

Anyone know if this is possible? "

One solution is to move /usr/lib/ImageMagick-6.3.7/ to /opt/usr/lib/ImageMagick-6.3.7 and create a symbolic link (@dev: could this happen in postinstall?) manually...

Give D-Iivil some time to work with the code

Like CepiPerez mentioned, I'm working on dropping off the imagemagic (which is the rootfs eating monster).

What do you need the free space for anyway, are you saving it for something special? :D

Re: [Announce / WIP] Theme Customizer - customize your N900

It's probably unnecessary to mention, but I just wanted to confirm that version 9-10 did in fact clear up the problems I was having with 9-9. I also was going to put in a request to see if it was possible to optify the new pieces, but it looks like that topic's already been covered and will soon be moot.
I'd say the majority of my n900 usage involves an X term prompt, so honestly I don't know why I even care about playing around with the themes so much, but it's actually very entertaining to me to fiddle with the settings on a daily basis, and your work is a big part of that.

i'm using the pleego blue scheme and blue sky iconset. the icons in catorise havent changed to blue sky icons. so my question is, should they change and if not, can you make them to change?

Re: [Announce / WIP] Theme Customizer - customize your N900

Like Mat2k10 said above, can there be an option when icon background can be deactivated while keeping the icon pressed background active? That way the UI won't seem unresponsive when the icon backgrounds are disabled.

It's doable but it would create one more dropdown menu to UI since catorize uses same images as app manager uses for package categories and those are not part of icon theme, they are part of theme graphics.
