A new update to nelisquare is almost out! with new features, better integration with maps, and separate design layout for n900 and n9.

@tardolus helped me with fresh-modern-look style ;)

just installed the most recent version I could find, can see the feed but pressing 'places' shows a page with 'API returned 400 Bad Request'... am I doing something wrong or could I have installed a wrong version?

try get version from app4meego or you can use latest dev build from my server

error 400 from api is usualy because your gps connection is wonky and nelisquare cant lock your gps position. you can setup supl a-gps server from google at your phone, or wait until gps(location) icon at tray(near the clock) stops blinking.

I hope this will be for Harmattan too... i tried it some time ago on my N9 and thought it had a lot of nice features not present in the official app or in 4squick, but it stopped to work at some point, and the UI felt out of place on my N9. I'll wait eagerly for this!

as i mentioned before - check out app4meego or almost-every-day--or-week-updates from my build server ;)

As I was saying, the version on apps4meego stopped to work for me some time ago. I tried again now to see if something's changed, and version 0.3.16 (if I recall correctly) now that it's out of "testing" status, works OK. I'm looking forward for the redesign ;)

P.S.
Could we also have an Harmattan-style icon? Pretty please? :D

I'd like it to have also that "reverse-drop" thingy on it, but I have to admit the new logo is quite cool so it can work nicely as an icon too.

On the new design I should say that it's a huge step forward! It's still missing the friends list or I missed it (I'm indoor now so that can depend on the absence of gps signal). One thing I'd miss from 4squick is also the number of people that checked in in a place, and the total number of check ins displayed in a certain place's page, for now I didn't notice anything more. Will use it in the next few days to see how it changes my experience and report back! ;)

EDIT:
Not really a feature request, or a complain or whatever but... are you also planning to get rid of the blinking red antenna in the lower right corner while searching for gps signal? It is actually quite nice, but on harmattan it's redundant with the similar notification in the status bar. I'm just curious. :rolleyes:

can i give some suggestions?

is it possible to add the option "keep running in the background" (like in the fb app Sociality) so when you close nelisquare, a process is still running to monitor friend's activity (you decide the updating time), and is notified when a friend checkin somewhere?

adding the "like" button for friends activities?

clickable profile pic for zoom, and clicckable link to facebook/twitter profiles of friends if available?

make the nearby button to work, so only nearest friends activities is shown?

they will be implemented like notifications of new sms or email messages.
of course - the easiest way is to open link at external(your system default) browser.

currently, this is the most fresh version for maemo. i'm testing all new features on harmattan, as this is my develop device.
as soon as i complete some of features and desing will be appropriate, repo version as well builds on my server will be updated.

Hopefully this will happen during this weekend :cool:

OK, here's my confession.
I tried it, I like it.
It's fast and it works.
A few tweaks now and there and some extra over the edge features like integration with Harmattan Events feed will bring it on top.

it would probably be nice if we can view our and our friend's shinny badges. Let's face it, we jumped for it because of the badges.

In addition, it would be helpful to view the profile picture in larger size. =D

so... the nelisquare 0.4.0 with updated design is out for both maemo and meego. consider it like a beta version :)
I already got a bug report for maemo, that "back" and "myself" menus are croped, but still working :o

all the requested new features will be added as soon as possible, consider that release as new design + bugs fixes.
keyboard layout, typing, photo uploads etc.

i just upgrade from maemo repo and testing on my n900
some bug report:

where is the button to close the app? and to minimize?

as said,back and myself crop

when in myself the first place in the ranking is hidden

when scrolling...some green buttons and bars is passing over the layer of the blu mainbar of nelisquare instead of under

btw it looks good the new design and the app is smooth as usual

Only 2 nearest people are shown there. tap on leadersboard to get full ladder.

can you provide a screenshot ? pm, twitter or otherway, i haven't notice that behavior while testing it myself

may be it was caused by scrolling while not the all data has been fetched from the server... layout on pages changes according to retrieved data.

upd: an 0.4.1 for maemo is out with buttons and menu fixed.
