Re: [Announce] kernel-power stable v52 in Extras
well. i've read carefully almost every post on u-boot releted thread. what i dont understand is how to create config file in /etc/bootmenu.d with suffix .item and copying zimage to /boot.
Because when i install (with apt-get) u-boot-bootimg, u-boot-tools, u-boot-flasher, kernel-power-bootimg and kernel-power-settings and then run in xterminal: u-boot-update-bootmenu, the .item file will be generated in /etc/bootmenu.d and the zimage will be there in /boot. but then, once i restart the phone with slide out keyboard, and select power kernel (or stock), u-boot will show "starting kernel" then go off. i end up flashing the stock kernel each time. so pls what am i doing wrong? what am i missing? cos this is really freaking me out now. i know you guys are good and offer help to those who dont understand. help me pls. |

@pinochio: Make sure you have bluetooth enabled. Also please try to reboot device and test if FM radio working with stock kernel. "no voice" problem looks irrelevant for me to last kernel changes...

Re: [Announce] kernel-power stable v52 in Extras
@Alecsandru: btrfs is not part of 2.6.28 kernel, so I cannot enable it. If you provide patch which backport btrfs to 2.6.28 I can try to review it and add it to KP. And reiserfs is already enabled and part of KP52. I do not know why are you asking for it... it is already there.
|
Re: [Announce] kernel-power stable v52 in Extras
I've made a partition with gparted , formatted to reiser4 and it wasn't recognized by maemo , and about btrfs : one guy on a forum said: '' I've hand-grafted btrfs to be compiled in to my 2.6.28 kernel'
and i started dreaming about btrfs and your skills making that happen on maemo |

I don't want to discourage you or anything, but I think you may be touching things without even basic understanding a) why you may even want them on your device b) how to achieve it, so, just in case, backup your data and be ready for reflash/backup recovery. This way, experimenting won't hurt. Not to mention, that I have NFC why you want btrfs running on N900's flash storage, but that's completely different matter (and none of the above is really on-topic for kernel-power thread, too). /Estel |
Re: [Announce] kernel-power stable v52 in Extras
I've migrated to ext4 estel , and one thing about fat32 , if you check that for errors with gparted u-boot doesn't see the bootmenu
I don't think the kp fs questions are off-topic |

Re: [Announce] kernel-power stable v52 in Extras
After being out of commission for almost a year with a broken usb port and a dead battery, I finally got back a battery and started to update. after updating to kernel power v52 I have forgotten that I should change some setting file in order to get it to boot so now it seems that I have bricked my beloved n900.

Re: [Announce] kernel-power stable v52 in Extras
Ough, that suxx, feeling sorry for you - but, what it is, a blog-like post, or a bug report? If the latter, then, well, it isn't very informative.

reiser4 is not part of *any* mainline kernel. reiserfs (3) is already enabled and should automatically work with CSSU (like other FS)

Could someone please post default (without any mods) kernel config for kp-52+kernel-power-settings?

Re: [Announce] kernel-power stable v52 in Extras
I am having performance issues when enabling SR. Both on stock clocks and when overclocked to 900MHz, video playback is jumpy.
At first I thought it is because I've mistakenly saved profile with SR-enabled voltages and then made it a default one, so I tried using default values and just enabling SR in config file, but same poor performance again. Tried both base frequency and overclocked to 900MHz. However, my device runs well on ulv profile. Even non-overclocked it plays most videos fine, without any lag. Right now it is overclocked to 900MHz just to be sure. What could be the problem? Do I loose much battery life or maybe even something else running an overclocked N900 without SmartReflex? |
Re: [Announce] kernel-power stable v52 in Extras
Just for the record, please write quotes of config code that you've changed to enable SR (or better, zerobin links to whole config files) - to be sure, that we're talking about same thing and you haven't changed something else.
Then, as we haven't been debugging SR problems for ages, I think we need to wait for freemangordon to come and ask you for debug info ;) /Estel |
