Hey Bill, Does the app start up when you turn on the phone or do I have to add it through the app menu?

Yeap as jellyroll said, if you select the 'Add to startup' and then save it, then it will start on startup ;)

I don't really know why this is happening... Maybe elros34 can help us with this :)

elros34 after running the /opt/qtedger/qtedger-settings as root from terminal and then selecting the 'Add to startup' , I get this:
root is not in the sudoers file. This incident will be reported.

If you have any solution or any update of your work, then just let us know :)

This should work:
-thumb
-non-thumb (not tested)

bill_klpd, thanks for nice icon.

Re: [Announce] N900 qtedger (N9 Swipe to N900!)

I added it on first post!

Re: [Announce] N900 qtedger (N9 Swipe to N900!)

In this version you added more places for swipe?

elros34 2013-08-04 14:07

Re: [Announce] N900 qtedger (N9 Swipe to N900!)

nope, only different behavior on different places

So awesome. Thank you guys.

Re: [Announce] N900 qtedger (N9 Swipe to N900!)

It's great what you've done
I wonder if I want to launch a specific app for ex. the qalendar a calculator or anything else it can be added to the gestures? and how?

elros34 2013-08-04 22:53

Re: [Announce] N900 qtedger (N9 Swipe to N900!)

You can install phone-control and the add "phone-control --startapp osso_calculator" to qtedger settings ui.

guilledoc 2013-08-05 00:44

Re: [Announce] N900 qtedger (N9 Swipe to N900!)

that did the trick thank you very much!!!!

Working great man! Nice job

Re: [Announce] N900 qtedger (N9 Swipe to N900!)

Installed ok the thumb version, but it is not working, nothing happen when I swipe any of the edges. I started it and I can see the qtedger process in conky. Any idea? Thanks.

elros34 2013-08-24 16:49

Re: [Announce] N900 qtedger (N9 Swipe to N900!)

In terminal:
killall qtedger
/opt/qtedger/qtedger
and do some swipes.
If nothing show up you can open gui and decrease velocity option.

yrannadx 2013-08-26 07:08

Re: [Announce] N900 qtedger (N9 Swipe to N900!)

Thanks, it works with a velocity of 15.

Re: [Announce] N900 qtedger (N9 Swipe to N900!)

@bill_klpd:

Just a suggestion, but may I suggest you configure the .deb file to register the dependency on libstdc++6 so that dpkg will auto install the necessary dependencies when installing your app.

ajack 2013-08-26 08:13

Re: [Announce] N900 qtedger (N9 Swipe to N900!)

I am not sure why the app is not working for me... :'(

elros34 2013-08-26 08:13

Re: [Announce] N900 qtedger (N9 Swipe to N900!)

jack, it's already done. Just use apt-get -f install.

Re: [Announce] N900 qtedger (N9 Swipe to N900!)

I fixed (I hope) problem with proper detection of orientation change which rarely occurred and added dbus signal on each swipe: "com.qtedger.signal" "edge" so now it's easy to show quick menus e.g. MohammadAG's mediabar: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nyhxvx3CwQ4
- thumb
- normal

no thumb? :D

I'm testing no thumb version and kinda strange, only up-down swipe works (desktop).

No way to make other swipes working; other strange thing, changing swipe action it continues to do "desktop" one...

Thanks enne30. I forgot that cp -r doesn't copy symlinks. Check new version.

Same link as in first post?

Do I have to do something particular to reinstall? (e.g. remove previous one, etc.)

Thanks :)

EDIT:
--------
I saw new link :p

Re: [Announce] N900 qtedger (N9 Swipe to N900!)

Look few posts up. You don't need to remove anything.

enne30 2013-08-27 19:51

Re: [Announce] N900 qtedger (N9 Swipe to N900!)

New version works quite well! :)

some question/issue:

- icon in application manger is missing. Is that normal?
- how to add browser to exceptions? tried 'microb', 'browser' and 'browserd' but no success
- after adding to start-up is there easy way to remove?

thanks!

- restart phone or hildon should solve this
- you can't but I'm working on it
- yes, first add and then you will see:p

It's Array theme.

It's Array theme.

1- no icon even after restart
2- will wait, anyway it's ok to 'reserve' lower corners with no action :)
3- :p

some other question :o

- the wmctrl command stands for ... ?
- any way to launch applications, i.e. phone app?
- any way to close active window?

thank you very much

bill_klpd 2013-08-28 21:53

Re: [Announce] N900 qtedger (N9 Swipe to N900!)

I still want to find out how the f*ck we can open the hildon status bar with the swipe :p, but it is not something that we really need(but it is a nice idea for me ;P)...

Elros34 maybe with the exeptions we can make something like making the program to "understand" where it is and have different behaviour in different places, or it is not possible?

Thanks again for your awsome work! Keep up ;)

P.S: If we will have in the future different behaviour in different places, then we could use the swipe for answering/ending calls etc. with these:
End current phone call
Code:

dbus-send --system --print-reply --dest=com.nokia.csd.Call /com/nokia/csd/call com.nokia.csd.Call.Release
Answer current phone call
Code:

dbus-send --system --print-reply --dest=com.nokia.csd.Call /com/nokia/csd/call/1 com.nokia.csd.Call.Instance.Answer

Check /usr/share/icons/hicolor/80x80/apps/ and /usr/share/applications/hildon/qtedger.desktop

- use it and you'll see ;)
- yes
- wmctrl -c :ACTIVE:

Yes but as I said it's not work properly so not every windows are recognized correctly. I'm to lazy to implement separate profile for each app but if you want I can do simple application so you would do this yourself.

It's interesting idea but why not use slide2unlock.

You don't need to compile it. Just edit qml/main.qml file.

I think there is a small problem.. :p
When I am on the menu and swipe it gives this:
Code:

edge: "right2" active window: "desktop"
When I am on the home screen it gives this:
Code:

edge: "left2" active window: "desktop"
When I have opened the status menu it gives this:
Code:

edge: "bottom" active window: "desktop"
It understands all of these as the "desktop" because it is the same program...

There are also some apps that it shows only "" like the web or the contacts etc.

Yeah don't worry, I am saying what I see :p
It is so great seeing that it DOES understand where it is, even in some 3rd party apps :D
