I had same issue. I removed some temporary files under /home/nemo/.local/share/harbour-cutespotify and it started to work again. I don't remember which files those where but I think you can delete whole directory, just need to login and maybe load offline files again aftar that.

received today a text message while playing music with CuteSpotify, and also got music playing threw headphone during sms sound notification :D

What would it take to get Next/Previous controls and song/artist/album name over Bluetooth working? I'm using CuteSpotify in a car and having to fiddle with the phone while driving is not the optimal solution.

* Removes donation buttons - I'm no longer freelancing, so donations no longer have any direct effect on the amount of time I'm able to spend on CuteSpotify, as such I've decided to remove the donation links from the app.

It looks like Spotify has changed the way it works with albums. Since the redesign, you could click 'Save' on an album and it would show up in CuteSpotify. Since today, they show up in Albums instead of playlists and nothing appears either in CuteSpotify or the official desktop app.

I don't know what has changed in the API, but I guess it is just a new logic to save music by albums instead of playlists. I like that approach, but it might require some work to reflect this in CuteSpotify :(

About the donation button, well, I helped you a little before you deleted it :P
But I'm not sure about what does that mean, if you are going to spend more or less time developing the app... :(

This is actually already possible if you don't mind editing the config file yourself, I just haven't had time to expose the functionality in the UI (plus it's not had much testing, due to me not having a spare microSD card).

Just edit .local/share/harbour-cutespotify/CuteSpotify/CuteSpotify.conf and change the dataPath value to the location you'd like it to store files.

It won't clear out the old files, so you'll need to do that manually.

I've been reading a while back that you had a new job congrats, but does this mean you won't be able to develop CuteSpotify anymore?

Or is it a free time issue?

The new job doesn't prevent me from working on CuteSpotify in any legal sense, it just eats up a lot of my time and development energy, so it's difficult to find a chunk of time to do much on it (I have a number of other side projects that also compete for that time).

CuteSpotify was crashing for me, after the update, but I thought if was due to the hackish way of having the database on the memory card.
Deleting the config folder fixed it.

You can't really blame Jolla - CuteSpotify is using unstable APIs, so occasional breakage is to be expected.

So with the help of Elleo I could finally build the app from sources and started to work on it.

My Plan is first to go through the UI and change it into a more Sailfish style.

After that I'll start on adding missing things like the player view.

This is great news, thank you!

I have few things on my mind:

• stability - it crashes way too often
• headset button support (Play/Pause)
• adding playlists from the app
• folder management
• ability to see artists and albums outside of playlists (new on Spotify - saving an album doesn't save it to a playlist)

Not sure if all of these are supported in libspotify, though...

Top priority should be:

1. stability
2. volume control (should be doable with next SailfishOS update)
3. UI fixes and Player view

For stability I first have to observe crashes, and maybe create a logging infrastructure.

Edit: If you have a specific reproducible case for a crash please let me know

is not top priority, but I have a headset for which click are detected in dmesg, so there should be someway to figure this out.

playlist + folder management is on to do.

Volume control will be tackled as soon as update 8 is out.

Don't rush things, probably will give this after a first release.

Hi

Great to hear you could and took the project!

One way to crash CuteSpotify: start the app, start playing some song, and change the volume *before* the song actually starts. Should be easy enough to reproduce... Is it even worth fixing, if future OS upgrade will make the hackish volume control eventually go away..?

Other than that, you already commented on everything on my mind :)

An idea, I can search for songs but can't add them to a playlist from CuteSpotify, that is a wanted function also but not top priority at this point.

About headset support, currently key events are only forwarded when the app is in foreground. Thus we either have to wait until this changes from the OS or use a bit a workaround which will be hacky.
But in foreground I already can see the headset button press from the app..

Attention update 8 (1.0.8.19) currently makes cutespotify unusable - No audio output.

After updating to Sailfish version 1.0.8.19 Tahlakampi CuteSpotify
refuses to play songs :(
And the Official Android app is working.

Nicely done and fast.

Seems to work accordingly. Two notions however.

First, don't know if this is Sailfish side or Cutespotify, but if you start playing song with bluetooth, then connection gets lost, the song is not resumed from phone speakers. Of course that is matter of oppinion whether this is good or bad.

Secondly, it might be good to update the version number in about section. still showing 1.3
