I can't remember saying that or why it would apply here as you're only reading the tar archive from the memory card - permisssion denied suggests you don't have permission to write the content of the archive to the root partition.

I don't remember where I read it, but it was posted in this thread. I moved the tar file to Documents but I couldn't change to that directory with cd /Documents....not found. At first it was in the download directory on my memory card and I moved it. The details of the file manager don't exactly tell you the exact file location as in Ubuntu(ex home/roy/Documents). Documents directory is listed under Nokia 770 and I know spaces are not allowed. How do I change to the Documents directory?

I tried it again and apparently I was not root....it says enable RD mode if you want to break the Nokia 770. Now my question is how do I enable RD???

Kosmic, you know a way to extract he2008 jffs2 and make a tar of it to be located on a MMc on a 770. Could you give me instructions on how to do that?

Won't find it there.
You need to go to this link: http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/os2007_hacker_edition.php
Enter your WAN number and you'll have the install fiile. Use 770 flasher to install it!

updating Nokia 770 os 2006 to hacker version 1 2007

I downloaded the 0s 2007 hacker edition
with a .php extension. I am using the Nokia internet download wizard.

The wizard is looking for a .bin file, I changed the extension in File manager, but the Nokia internet wizard update still asks for a .bin file.
In the youtube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqDMaokgSbI) the files that Rock saved in his update folder appear with the bin extension - "ARM bin". But when I either download or save the file, I end up with os2007_hacker_edition.php and not with SU-18....ARM Bin. I'd be very grateful if someone could solve this problem.

I'm new to this forum, so perhaps I should have gone through all 171 posts before I posted this request.

Could you try to download the bin image with another browser? Are you using Linux or Windows to download? If Linux, what does

tell?

I was using firefox. I got it sorted out a few hours ago using firefox again. It's difficult to understand why after four downloads of os2007 I ended up with a .php extension file, whereas on the fifth try - in wild hope - up came one of the most delightful images to hit my screen - a .bin file.

After all that, I think I'll hit the sack.
