Re: Sailfish OS on Fairphone 2
It's not very helpful because you don't have any problem (because you want to learn by solving problem) or it's not very helpful because you don't understand his guide?
I'm confused. |

Re: Sailfish OS on Fairphone 2

Hope 2.0.5 fixes that... |

Re: Sailfish OS on Fairphone 2
i don't think it's actually fixed (there were some changes in one of the last changes regarding this issue). For me it stopped going black during calls and alarms, but at the same time the screen stays sensible to touch. This is not that annoying as black screen, but still

Re: Sailfish OS on Fairphone 2
Is anyone else having trouble with 2.0.5.6 and the Jolla store?
Code:

http://repo.merproject.org/obs/nemo:...ishos_2.0.5.6/ this repo is not active anymore. This is the correct one: http://repo.merproject.org/obs/nemo:...atest_armv7hl/ you need to run the sed-command again with the devel repo |
Re: Sailfish OS on Fairphone 2
We should update the article if testing really is depecated.

The repository, which is described here is the "official" testing repo. More advanced users who want bleeding-edge stuff can use Mal-s Devel-Repos just from his kitchen. but i don't know, if Mal- really wants to put unstable Devel-Repos to the wider public audience. i made own PDF-Manual, which include the devel-repo, i can send it to everybody, who write me email to info(at)explit.net But i don't want to post it somewhere without Mal-s permission. |
Re: Sailfish OS on Fairphone 2
fwiw, I just flashed alpha2 on my fp2 yesterday and upgraded to 2.0.5.6 using the testing repos as follows:
- upgrade from alpha2 to 2.0.4.14 via the instructions on the wiki page (using testing) - upgrade from 2.0.4.14 to 2.0.5.6 via the instructions on the wiki page (using testing) So far, things seem to work well. By the way, when trying to go from alpha2 to to 2.0.5.6 directly, I got the same obexd config foo error as reported above. Unfortunately, my time is super limited these days, so I could not test further nor can elaborate more on this, for now. I also read somewhere that the devel repo should be used but do not recall enough details, right now, to provide any more helpful input. Anyway, huge thanks to mal for providing such fantastic support for a community port. :) |
Re: Sailfish OS on Fairphone 2
I guess people here never answers a phone call on SFOS.
Atleast my FP2 SFOS I cant answer phone call since I get black screen of dead. Upgrade did not fix the issue. Strting to give up on SFOS since I heard this alsois an issue on Jolla phone :( |

Possibly you are referring to the (ages ago solved) problem that at one time caused some calls to be deferred? |

every 5 call or so. this is a problem with a proximity sensor, the problem is known since a couple of month. Fairphone calibrated the sensor since FP Open 16.08, but with the new modem the battery life is very bad. so we need to wait, until Fairphone fix the Modem Firmware. on the Jolla 1 this problem has never exist. i'm on Devel, latest adaptation 0.0.1.109 |
Re: Sailfish OS on Fairphone 2
this is also when I get an alarm. Or when I try ring another person it also goes black.

Is the Official SFOS for FP2 still happening or not? That sounds like another sweet dream that never comes true. *
*Or instead, it will be real soon |
Re: Sailfish OS on Fairphone 2
Only Jolla or Fairphone could answer this question.
In the maintime Mal- will release his alpha3 (SailfishOS 2.0.5.6) very soon. I think, it will be still this year. :-) |

I guess that's the latest "official" response. Still not much information. Do you think the work is still going on or they have cancelled the joint work? Too bad we are that close to a decent hardware with full OS includes AD. |

Intex and TRI has signed an licence agreement with Jolla and got official ports including Alien Dalvik. But the both are non-eu companies, they are not forced to give support like an eu company. that is, what makes the things difficult for the Fairphone. For me - the FP2 Community port is running quite good. I can live without Android apps, so for me AD is not so importand - but nice to have. If someone want to wait for the official SailfishOD o. the FP2 - he could probably wait very long.... |

Look for the link in the alpha3 installation manual. So it doesn't matter which FairphoneOpen OS you will use, 16.11 or 16.12 or later. As long you flash the old modem files and don't owerwrite them with the new modem files - you will not have any battery drain. Unfortunately, the proximity sensor will also remain uncalibrated with the old modem files. This problem persists only with SailfishOS, with Android there is no battery drain, even with the new files. So it will take a long time, until somebody fix the issue... :-( I made an support ticket for that a long time ago, also wrote an email to the Fairphone Developers.... They say - its a Sailfish Problem, we can't help here. Mal- think, the Modem Firmware is kind broken, so t behaves different in Android and SailfishOS 07.01.2017 An update on this issue: Battery drain is not so extreme with Fairphone Open 16.12 Modem, but its still there. The proximity sensor is calibrated, i have no black screens on phone calls anymore. But there are still more tests necessary. Could some of you guys install the FP 16.12 Modem and give me some feedback? |

Re: Sailfish OS on Fairphone 2
So, now that 2.1.0 early access release is out, does anyone know whether the sky will fall in if we update?
Edit: asked on IRC. Don't try to update yet, Mal said that lots of stuff will need to be recompiled but he can't do that yet, until Jolla releases the SDK files. |

Re: Sailfish OS on Fairphone 2
Mal created a new repo for Sailfish 2.1
http://repo.merproject.org/obs/nemo:...ishos_2.1.0.9/ You need to change /usr/share/ssu/features.d/adaptation-community.ini adaptation-community = http://repo.merproject.org/obs/nemo:...fishos_2.1.0.9 After 2.1.x.x becomes official you will probably need to change it back to sailfish_latest. Afterwards like usual: ssu re 2.1.0.9 ssu ur ssu lr (To check that repo adaptation-community is pointing to the right repo) version --dup zypper ref; zypper up (To show if some packages are missing or couldn't be installed because of dependency problems) sync reboot I can confirm for me its running fine on my FP2 https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...d8e071d85e.jpg (IMEI, WIFI & BT i painted black for privacy reasons) |
Re: Sailfish OS on Fairphone 2
Just updated, can confirm it's working for me too :)

Re: Sailfish OS on Fairphone 2
works for me too.
Camera app way faster shooter. Question now is how much of the new stuff in Qt 5.6 can actually be used are there backends for BT/NFC modules? My first guess is not since they are not installed. |
