Browser crash when loading page (2.1.0.9+)

In addition to my previous answer, I have also observed quite a few cases when I switched off the screen with the browser open and when I switched it back on, all I got was a blank page. Reloading the page had no effect. The same page minimised in the list of tabs was showing OK. The only way to bring it back was to close the tab and open it again. This happened a number of times even on this very website.

I first observed it in 2.1.0. The latest update did not fix it.

It has been there since 2.0.5.6 I guess. I am right now on 2.0.5.6 and I have that. Ever since the browser engine was upgraded, may be?

Yep, I also have it on 2.0.5.6. Also the flashing page one.

Did you try turning the pbone to landscape orientation? That works for me when I have the browser blank screen issue.

It still works for me, you just have to go get it from warehouse/openrepos again

Most likely it does what the release notes say it does: It fixes a bug in the Bluetooth status indicator.

I had many freezes with my C in the last days - always in the car with bluetooth enabled: Screen keeps black - not responsible for double click. This bug should be away now but I need some time to proove it. As with the LPM the status bar and it's elements seems to be sensitive for changes.

Once all translations are finished we should have the next update some time soon :D

Strange they push the update when a known regression (serious swipe lag) on the Aqua Fish is apparently not yet fixed.

Re: 2.1.0/Iijoki EA

Also, i think i did not have spontaneous reboots in 2 weeks on 2.1.0.9.
But after updating to 2.1.0.11 late last week they occured at least 3 times since then.
Could there be a difference between 0.11 EA and 0.11 official?

MartinK 2017-04-11 15:03

Re: 2.1.0/Iijoki EA

Yeah, there are at least 3 major issues (IMHO) that are still not fixed:

- device crashes/freezes on Jolla C/Aquafish
- swipe lag on Jolla C/Aquafish
- cyclical Browser crash

Well, hopefully they will at least fix that in the next update. :)

Nope! The version numbers are always different even for the smallest changes. Early access just lets you download it before everyone else (although at this point, I wonder how many people are not in early access).

Well, here's one. I use it as my only phone, can't afford to flash or re-install. So reading about more spontaneous reboots in Iijoki...

The update in addition to the above mentioned issues, also drains my battery much quicker. Not very happy as this is my only phone.

I might be just lucky but I have none of these issues in my sbj1 device. Never had any of those with any Iijoki-EA-release, and now am running the final 2.1.0.11 release.

(what does "cyclical Browser crash" even mean, consecutive/repeatable crashes when starting browser?)

Browser crash when loading page (2.1.0.9+)

This basically means the Sailfish Browser randomly starts to crash when loading any URL, until it recovers a random time later and starts to work normally again. It's pretty annoying, especially due to the Sailfish Browser being the default browser for opening of URLs from other apps and there not being a simple way (AFAIK) to switch that to another browser (Web Pirate, Web Cat, etc.).

Also, AFAIK at least Kimoli is getting the same behavior, so it's not an isolated thing.

Re: 2.1.0/Iijoki EA

I just got the browser crashes on the tablet, too. First, a newspaper website with about 1MB in JS crashed all other open applications (apparently 1MB of JS translates to 2GB of RAM), then suddenly the browser crashed as well and restarting it just made it crash again multiple times in a row. I don't use the browser very often but this is just awful. How does this even happen? Once again the Jolla 1 looks like a recent top of the shelf model, with exactly none of these issues.

Interesting, I have crashing issue on Jolla 1. On Jolla C too.

mosen 2017-04-12 12:00

Re: 2.1.0/Iijoki EA

Out of those 3, i "only" had the random system crash on Jolla 1 and C.
No Problem in Browser so far, using it constantly.
The Jolla C swipe problem was only present in 2.1.0.9 for me and seems solved in 2.1.0.11.
Maybe its worth mentioning that i did not update to 2.1.0.10 but directly from 09 to 11.

In web pirate :

in tabs view : pulley menu "settings" -> "general" -> tick "as default browser"

don't know for other browser, but code of webpirate is open, so one can look there how there a doing it.

Yes, this one also crashes my browser!
Indeed it is as I believed, I am just so lucky I never have needed these crashing pages... :p

Yes the guardian crashes.
But any site to try that crashes on 2.10.11 but not on 2.0.5.6?
I have twitter, fb, linkdin and my company tabs always open and switch betwen them with no probs.

You could also use Mimer for that: https://openrepos.net/content/llelectronics/mimer

I wonder why this isn't part of the basic system functionality yet.
