Stop blaming other companies for Nokia's decisions:

1. The NAND is not from TI, it's from Samsung. It is not integrated in the OMAP, but rather PoP.
2. 512MB was available since at least start of 2009, more than 10 months before N900 went to market.
3. The device has a lot more storage, it's Nokia that decided on the file systems layout.

Is there an easy way to see/uninstall all installed applications by catalogue or is it just a case of remembering which were installed from where?

25.4 Mb rootfs -> disabled all catalogs but Nokia Applications and Nokia System Software Updates brought space to 47 MB and make a backup to SD, then Updated OTA,....'operation failed' flashed once after finishing downloading, it started to install anyway, and finished without problem and is running smooth so far. Everything/setting remained after update, nothing got erased and secured wifi continued to connect.

After updated, I re-enableed all my 'toy' catalogs, and it is now 22.0 MB, the new update ate up 3.4 Mb + rootfs space.

No, once they're installed then there's (currently) no way of finding out which repository an application came from. You'd have to specifically track where they were installed from - could be an idea for a new app though...

the device was designed in 2008 though? :D

winge winge, can we get back on track please everyone?

So far the update seems to be out in alot of places.

For anyone who has problems with not enough space/room for the update you can either
Please bear in mind some of the methods require root access, and there is a warning in place as you can do some damage, brick your device, and even turn it into a chicken if you are not careful! (That last bit may not be entirely true...)

Some root commands that can help, once you have root (Will not explain here how to get it.)
  • df -h (To find out how much space you have on rootfs)
  • apt-get clean
  • apt-get autoremove

Removing applications will help....
Disabling testing and development catalogues/repositories.

And don't forget to reboot :) - always helps!

People seem to have a consensus of needing around 43mb+ - 50mb should be safe :)

I'm starting to think the updates aren't rolled out on a regional basis. Someone from my area posted it showed up for them, but still nothing for me.

No matter, I've already downloaded the .bin and can flash it, just wanted to try this newfangled OTA updating to see how it works, since I didn't have enough room on the last update and had to use the flasher.

Looks like nsu flasher comes to the rescue once again.

One new feature i noticed with this update is when you receive a voicemail, you get a notification like when you get a new email. I have never seen it before, but thats a good change/addition.

It should be "operation failed..." Usually it happens when one pressing app catalog too fast and several times in a role, "operation in progress..." first flashed up to tell N900 is busy and followed with "operation failed..."

If that is the case, nothing to worry. Otherwise, may need to find out more.
