My first post here but hav been following this forum for the last 2 months now. I got a phone call from guy in MPD for my card details at around 12pm. I just spoke to a guy again and I was told that my phone was posted finally. He said that they will update the order tracker in the website by 5pm and then will receive the despatch mail. I ordered my phone on 8/10/09.

Hehe, may have to be more specific! :)

Mic works! - check
No laggyness whatsoever - check!
screen got dead pixels - no - check!
Keyboard easy to use - yup! - check

Ok installed 4 or 5 apps, hermes is having issues dloading, will try later.
apps install fast - was trying to show someone boucne whilst installing something, thought i bricked it - 2 secs later all was fine :)
can do it - but give the poor thing a second when you have 8 apps open and your are zipping through them

desktop is simple, few quirks you will learn, nothing bad though.
I love the side lock scroll thingy, not used the screen unlock yet though.
Web browser is fine.
Whole quality of the device seems very good.

Battery - erm, used 25% playing heavily with it in 2.5 hours .

Transferred all contacts via bluetooth from E71 in about 30 seconds :)
Bluetooth for me seems v clever! - all so easy! :)

will play with desktops in the car - got a 2 hour road trip tonight, but the missus is driving, so N900 time! - will be in the sticks of east sussex - so will see what the roaming 3g is like :)

Forgot to add, the phone auto dims itself - will play with that later, can be annoying, but bright enough for me, so not so bad... - think i read about that somewhere else.

Ok guys I had mine delivered, but I dont think they ported my number across FFS!!!!!!!!

It all appears to be random in terms of assigning customers to branches...

Guildford is by far the closest to me, with Southampton coming in at second... so they decided to pick Banbury! There's about 3/4 counties and a big river in the way of uniting me and my N900...!

They probably start the port when you ship. Otherwise there would be the possibility you would be without your number for a period of time.

Probably best thing to do is ring the phone company customer services and ask if the port has been requested,

Hmm - some money is definitely out of my account... Its for more than what MPD should have taken (which is better than it being less)...assuming there's other transactions to go out at some point... Just a waiting game until tomorrow morning now :-(

I've just a question about the Facebook widget. Once you sign in, does it keep you signed in permanently even if you turn the phone on and off or do you have to keep signing in? Thanks

Nothing out of mine yet, just checked again but.....
The invoice in the packaging actually has a gross total of 0.00 ... no delivery costs on there whatsoever!

Free delivery for the hassle of waiting and crap communication maybe?

good question, actually got facebook bookmark on my home screen - the whole website is so easy to use, not tried the widget, will do though.

So far the facebook and twitter and maemo.talk pages have remembered my login and have been fine.

Facebook notifications, chat etc also work :)

Have to admit i am using my stylus alot, but its fine by me, love it. have tried using fingers instead, find myself zooming in more - no issue, but just quicker for me personally with the stylus.
Also i need my screen protector to arrive soon! - does smudge easily this screen! (thank god they put the cloth in the box - works like a dream!)

To be honest, its the least they could do!

We were all so happy when they sent us emails... and all so angry when they didn't! One a week/fortnight would have been great, just so we knew where we stood...

Thankfully its nearly all over - no dud units so far either! (Hope I haven't jinxed myself!).

Wtf ordered 20/10 on t mobile 12/mon thay did second credit check on 02/12 showing on my credit card statement debit £2 but no email no call and tracking page is still ready for dispatch. Ppl who order after me already got n900 or got email.
Pissd off man but happy for u lot who receive today.

guys those who ported over the number from their previous phone supplier, did you:

a) get a message from Voda/T mobile BEFORE you received ur phone
b) Had this on their confirmation email:

New Mobile Number: $$$SMARTLIFT_PARAM_MOBILE_NUMBER$$$
Handset IMEI Number: $$$SMARTLIFT_PARAM_IMEI_NUMBER$$$
New SIM Number: $$$SMARTLIFT_PARAM_SIM_NUMBER$$$

Or did it say "PAC Number is..." or "Current number is..."????

hehe yeah - not sure how to detect software version - but so far so good. Will try and find that later.

One thing that has been noted on these forums before and is useful to know is....

When you goto an options/menu screen, it's not obvious that there could be more options by scrolling down.... So when you get it and play around - try to scroll down and you should find some goodies, or at least more options :)

Just spoke to the Guildford store (as that is my closest) and they said they have about 90 N900 orders to process. The chap on the phone couldn't say if my order was going to be done soon as all the orders are on paper and there is a big pile of them.

It gets better.

Then he said they process about ten a day and it should go out... ..."sometime within the next nine days"!!!

Yes. Nine.

I think I might die of no N900itus by then :(

you ordered quite late, they may need to get another batch in though. Keep an eye on this thread and hopefully others with similar dates will keep you updated too :)

alex i ordered on 7/10 and u ordered before me but we havent seen any dispatch notices or status changes so what do you think we should do????because those who ordered after us hv got status changes and dispatch notices
