This has been said a thousand fu*cking times you nutshell. And with some logic, you would probably find that good old ammyt stripping in a pole if phone calls were available.

Hi Frendz, my service provider offers 3G data network. In Nitroid, how could I access this network when wifi is not available?

Sorry if this query has been answered already in any one of these 197 pages.

Thanks!

Re: The Grand Nitdroid Thread - Polished

task manager called Itching Thumb was tested by me. After doing a research it was found that - people use it to give multitasking capabilies to Android. As it was asked by Ammyt to test it. Here i have the results...

It doesnt change the default Launcher which means it runs as a seperate application through menu. It opens an other layer on top of home screen.
Because of this, the top bar (date, signals etc) is dissapeard. Dock at the bottom sucks ... Pressing the camera button closes the app which is annoying...
So it kinda failed... Wouldnt recommend anyone to install it :)

@ Vasikaran
check this link for apn setting

Thank you very much. But I could not find my service provider in that list. I'm in Switzerland. For this country, only ORANGE CH is given. My service provider is SUNRISE. Is there anyway to setup the APN for this network?

You could try here -> http://lmgtfy.com/?q=sunrise+apn+settings. The first one looks good to me.

@ammyt : why is the method mmc installaton no longer in the wiki page?
I prefer mmc because i heard it's safer..
I'm tried to do this with MMC but it doesn't work..

Multiboot only shows maemo.. any idea what's wrong?

Hi Friend,

Although the wiki page puts emphasis on installing to the eMMC (internal storage), you will notice that the instructions still include those for MicroSD/MMC (external storage). :) Perhaps you followed the instructions for installing to the Internal Storage as to why you are experiencing the problem?

Based on my experience helping out on this thread (as well on a local Filipino thread), most people start having problems with Step 6 (the one where you edit with Leafpad). My suggestion is to go through each step one at a time, and slowly, and don't miss reading a single word...also don't do anything to your phone or proceed to the next step until you actually finished the previous one. I already tried the instructions many times and I can assure you that it works properly. :)

Followed everything correctly there, but on the 6th step there was nothing to be changed because the ITEM_DEVICE value is already correct for mmc...

And after i reboot, multiboot only shows 1 and 2 with no description..
Same thing happen even on the closed keyboard position
I had to reflash again :(

Btw i'm using the latest version though.. the RC version.. Is it incompatible with mido's kernel?
Also there was another error actually, the one related to telepathy extras and plugin salut... but i fixed it before..
That's the only difference..

In Settings > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names
slide the lock/unlock screen switch on the N900, and you will get the menu.

Super Thanks! :) But I could not setup the APN successfully. I had given the following details in the fields:

Name : Sunrise
APN: internet
Proxy : <not set>
Port : <not set>
Username : internet
Password : internet
Server: 212.35.35.35, 212.35.35.35 (Is this correct?)
MMSC
MMS proxy
MMS port
MMC : 228 (set default)
MNC : 02
AUthentication Type: <Not set>
APN Type: <Not set>

I saved with this setting. I do see the radio button turns to 'GREEN' but not able to connect to internet.

Hi, It's not easy to browse all 198 pages of this thread to find for the answer. Simply you could say "NO" instead of putting so much of words. Just my thought on this...No Offense Meant!

No. Your thought won't work here. This question has been asked over 200 times before. I am sure that "ooh does zat nitroidd have callz?" makes up to 70% of all the sentences written in this thread. I already said, when there are phone calls I'll let you know.

For me sir, everything is very clear! but as you can see, ppl go to the last page of the toppic, don't think and post the phone question. Even your 1post is very clear.

Me, i'm still waiting for gingerbread, because i have no faith the installation will work(because of my unknowing, even i've read the tuto's and saw the vid's), so I need a good day when I have time and then i'll try for sure.

Re: The Grand Nitdroid Thread - Polished

I've been reading the Wiki very carefully and there are certain points that could be clarified or have some further explanations.

I don't have enough experience installing Nitdroid to do all the changes myself but let me list all my appreciations:

- I have added a little introduction just to explain to the newbies what the EMMC is.

- I would add a warning about prerequisites:
- Is it possible to have Power Kernel installed before installing Nitdroid?
- Is it possible to have Multiboot installed before installing Nitdroid?
- Is it possible to have BackupMenu installed before installing Nitdroid?
I'm not completely sure about the answers so I haven't added anything about it to the Wiki.

- The Kernel Power Installation paragraph seems a bit outdated to me. First of all you can install it via HAM or Fapman, and there is actually a Multiboot for Kernel Power package in the repos. It's also not clear if this procedure is to be done after Nitdroid installation and if doing it in this order is mandatory.

- I would also add an explanation about booting procedures. AFAIK, uboot is not working with Android, isn't it?

Re: The Grand Nitdroid Thread - N11 RC(3) Out

After spending the best part of 3 hours sifting through this thread i am astonished at the amount of pure aggression being applied in answer to simple questions.

Is it not possible in any instance when a question is asked to give a clear and simple answer WITHOUT agression?.

For everyones benifit attempting to install Nitdroid you should be aware that it is an OS based purely on members proggramming alone and is NOT in any way associated with Nokia.

The Nitdroid OS will never be anything but makeshift as no member has the entirety of the N900 drivers and closed components so therefore will never be anything else but a makeshift OS for the N900, based on these facts, therefore, many parts of it will simply not be compatible or useable to everyones requirements.
