You need kernel-power-settings though.
I still find the cleanest way to just edit pmconfig, read the wiki pages mentioned above for how to.

No, sorry, I don't have any free time lately, hopefully will have by the end of April.

P.S. maybe someone should gather a list of my pending tasks :p

And all 5 of them (except "default") are depreciated, if you use KP and freeman"s fixed smartreflex, as it adjust voltages on the fly. In such case, manual undervolting may be actually harmful for battery life (as compared to recalculated smartreflex), not only for stability. Just for the record.

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

OK, I've performed all the steps and now my N900 is running CSSU-Thumb with all programs I need (except BlessN900), and I like it :D. The device is running with limits 250-900, and smartreflex enabled (testing its' stability). So I have a couple questions.

1. Video and youtube playback are great without smartreflex but when I have Conky turned on (to monitor what's current frequency etc.) it lags - is it OK?

2. How do I monitor cpu voltage and frequency, possibly without lags?

Estel 2014-03-29 15:36

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

Not directly related to your main question, but I suggest watching youtube video via cutetube. You save on having browser + 23544354 unneeded parts of youtube page loaded. This way, you can view (flawlessly) a one or two step higher quality videos.

Twe fact that it lags when you have conky in background seems to indicate that you're hitting performance limits with sole site + video, and conky pushes it a little over the edge.

About frequency:
watch -n 1 cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpu_cur_freq
This is the only way I know to see the freq without influencing (like using conky).
About voltages IDK. Best guess look in your kernel profile, but with SR enabled they are are calculated on the fly aiui.

So there is absolutely no way to monitor them? =\

kernel-config show

Will display voltages set by sr, plus some margin, was it 3 points?

Thanks, I thought kernel-config show displays values unrelated to SR. Also, is there a possibility that voltages lower than set by SR work fine?

Dumb me ;)
I thought it will show only pre-defined values but actually it shows recalculated!

it is 1 point, 25mV (or 12.5 mV, CBA to check the TRM now)

Has this become the random garbage thead???

Please elaborate on the errors you have in separate threads or insert some useful debugging information
why you think it has any relevance towards thumb2- compiöed binaries.

Hi, I am preparing a new update so the repo could be in an inconsistent state until I am finished.

Please don't install/upgrade until the new update is out, unless you know what you're doing.

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

Hello all!

First I installed last Firmware Flashing on my N900.
Now I want install CSSU-Thumb. I go with Microb to page" http://wiki.maemo.org/Community_SSU/Thumb" and click on link CSSU Thumb Install and after add two catalogue, install "Community SSU Enabler" in HAM and than run Community SSU in desktop and automatically open HAM and I install or update just Maemo 5 Community SSU-Thumb in update list. And accept for download and install, after reboot just I see Nokia logo and after 4 or 5 sec automatically reboot and again reboot .... !!
What can I do for fresh installing "CSSU-Thumb"after flashing?

Thank you

I guess you should reflash your phone and stay on stock PR1.3 for the moment and wait for the go signal.

First thank you for replay!
ok, i waiting, but which signal?!

Before I installed CSSU Stable. full install and update or upgrade CSSU on my phone, and I installing Kernel-Power because I need some option with kernel-power! but every time reboot! what can I do before or after!? What is your advice?
What do you think about CSSU-Testing? relative stable?

vetsin 2014-04-22 13:32

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

honestly i don't know. let's ask freemangordon. :)
Just try Stock PR1.3 then install kernel power. Just don't touch CSSU at the moment. :)

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

Out of curiosity - is it "safe" to install all new packages from cssu-thumb repo now, or we need to wait for a sign?

I'm asking, as I have certain device that wasn't updated for a year or so, and for various reason it need to have mp-fremantle-community-pr package removed. Thus, I'm wondering if it's worthwhile to painfully install things from thumb repo with =version_string, or everything should "just work" now.

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

FWIW, all my Thumb packages are up to date as per the current state of the repo, without said signal. Like you, I also do not have the metapackage and quite possibly a few other individual packages, removed as part of the purging exercise. No adverse effetcs observed yet.

You'd better install mp-fremantle-community-pr package (just temporarily), it will pull all the dependencies in place

libhildon1-dev is in cssu-thumb but depends on libcairo2-dev which is not. I had to enable SDK to get it.

Hmm, just installed it from extras-devel and seems I am unable to make it crash by following the instructions here http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=299 :(

cssu-thumb version - 21.2011.38-1Tmaemo9.1+thumb0

and I have the latest h-d, HAM and glibc installed on top of it (from the -thumb repo).

Still crashes for me, everything latest AFAIK.

EDIT: As a matter of fact, I don't even have Thumb installed?! Strange? I was pretty sure I installed Thumb though..

I see no other way but you to provide a backtrace or coredump. Both will do the job, so, if you wish, join #maemo on freenode and ping me, I'll guide you through the steps to get coredump or backtrace.

Edit:
OK, it crashed, but while I was playing with settings, will see what it is

Edit2: Cute, rockbox-dbg provides no debugging symbols :(

Code:

Nokia-N900:~# dpkg -L rockbox-dbg
/.
/usr
/usr/share
/usr/share/doc
/usr/share/doc/rockbox-dbg
/usr/share/doc/rockbox-dbg/copyright

However, the crash is in rockbox itself:
Code:

Core was generated by `/opt/rockbox/bin/rockbox'.
Program terminated with signal 11, Segmentation fault.

(gdb) bt

Backtrace stopped: previous frame identical to this frame (corrupt stack?)

which seems like a bug in the program, rather than something with system libs. However, I will build it in my SB and test, with real debugging symbols, hoping it will crash again

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

Not sure where this question belongs. It certainly does not belong in the thread I where asked it first, it just naturally followed from the discussion therein.

Basically, how can I tell if any given binary has been compiled as Thumb?

The reason for asking: All makefiles auto-generated by qmake on my N900 have -mthumb in CFLAGS. Does that mean that Qt binaries built on the N900 are built as Thumb by default? How can I tell?

ade 2014-05-04 19:13

Re: [ANNOUNCE] CSSU-thumb thread - stable Thumb2 on N900

Code:

readelf -A <binary-file>|grep Tag_THUMB_ISA_use|awk '{print $NF}'
"Thumb-2" as a result means compiled with -mthumb
