Okay enough fooling around. :)

I installed CSSU (latest) though I didn't want to, but you can't miss something like that!
Then I installed the camera-ui .deb from the zip folder freemangordon posted, but, recording is still 848x480.
Hmmmm, since no localisation/buttons are there, what configuration files should I edit to enable 720p recording?

you have to select HD format from resolutions menu

EDIT: you should also install gdigicam .debs

Freemangordon, honestly, where can I find Your <some_donation_portal>? I would really like to donate few beers (I wish I could more...) for something like that so quickly done (not that you don't deserve it for eons of other things). Yea, to be honest I imagined that You or Nicolai may think (reading my last post) "hey, who said it's impossible?!", but it was rather like 'daydreams'.

Thanks a lot, this information made my day (night, actually). will test it after getting some sleep... It seems, that no security will expect Spanish Inquisition with HD recording in N900 on Tori Amos Show :D

Supported resolutions:
HD
1280x720@25
960@720@25

DVD
1024@576@25
720@576@25

if recording in HD resolutions, esp 1280x720 it is better to use class 10 SD card as storage, as if internal flash is used stuttering occur. For some reason actual HD framerate is about 20, will investigate further.

dunno but as n8 and his friend suggest to use class 4 mc for record and playback [ read user guide on those phone ], can u investigate it.
I thought emmc use no more than equal speed as class 6 mc
