Pali, seems you are not a maintainer here:
http://maemo.org/packages/source/vie....6.28-maemo46/

could that be the reason?

EDIT:
And here too:

Re: [Announce] kernel-power stable v49 in Extras-Devel

I have these profiles (with batterypatch installed):
overclock profile:
Code:

# tonism starving undervolt configuration
# minimum frequency to use
MINFREQ=500
# maximum frequency to use
MAXFREQ=750
# list of frequency configurations: each "frequency:volt,dsprate"
FREQS="0:22,90 125:22,90 250:28,180 500:29,360 550:32,400 600:34,430 700:41,430 750:42,430 805:45,430 850:46,500 900:49,500 950:52,500 1000:55,500 1100:63,520 1150:69,520"
SMARTREFLEX_VDD1=1
SMARTREFLEX_VDD2=1
GOVERNOR=ondemand
UP_THRESHOLD=75
SAMPLING_RATE=150000
IGNORE_NICE_LOAD=1
POWERSAVE_BIAS=0

underclock profile
Code:

#Created By Karam Baki <karam.baki@gmail.com>

MINFREQ=125
MAXFREQ=250
FREQS="0:22,90 125:22,90 250:28,180 500:29,360"
SMARTREFLEX_VDD1=1
SMARTREFLEX_VDD2=1
GOVERNOR=ondemand
UP_THRESHOLD=75
SAMPLING_RATE=150000
IGNORE_NICE_LOAD=1
POWERSAVE_BIAS=20

Before updating to kp49 I wants to be sure to edit the correct voltages and frequences...so, by reading the posts I know that I have to remove 700 and to change 750 to 720...and raise the max freq to 900 with vdd1 and vdd2 enabled? that's it? thanks for response ;)

@blackjack4it - if you are using batterypatch I think it is better to ask on dedicated thread, not here.

I don't think so.
I have pushed updates for packages previously maintained by other people several times, never had any problem (except for the autobuilder randomly failing)

Re: [Announce] kernel-power stable v49 in Extras-Devel

Hey. This'd be my first post on talk.maemo.org -- haven't had a proper reason yet; I'm always late testing things so everything's ironed out nicely in the threads. My feedback would always just be "Everything's peachy, thanks!"

Well, this time I'm trying out something quite new -- I installed KP49 directly from pali's directory two days ago, so I don't need to install it from the repo, but it -looks- like it's there. I saw the new kernel-power appear on my Hildon manager's "update" status prompt.

Anyway, great job on the ongoing KP voltage tweaks. I have to admit I always chuckle a bit at the messages that say "Everything works great! Thanks! EDIT: Wait, it's broken" so I'm not going to boast yet, but -seems- the dsp profile is stable on my n900 as well. It's heartwarming to see how the n900 fans have made the machine shine in two years. 720p recording, properly adjusted power saving and other things the machine should theoretically be capable of turn up successful.

Thanks to pali, freemangordon et al. Ought to praise you like I should.

Alright. I see the update pushed up in my HAM. Now it says I cannot install it because it has conflict with certain packages (more specifically, Kernel-Power's 48 Multiboot)

Should I uninstall it previously or is it a repositories problem?

Minhaz 2011-11-19 16:38

try uninstalling kp48 multiboot and den continue with the installation..

Somebody know if the profiles of CPU POWER CONTROL are compatible with KP49?

Estel 2011-11-19 22:10

Re: [Announce] kernel-power stable v49 in Extras-Devel

Go ask in CPU Power Control thread.

/Estel

// Edit

I've enabled vdd2. Using limits 500-900, most of the times, /sys/power/sr_vdd2_voltage sits on 35, some times it changes to 44. I know it's not directly related to CPU speed. Efuse values are as follow:
Code:

efuse_vdd1
0089c6b0
009ad9e6
00aae293
00aacb87
00abb8fa
00ab9bda
00ab8ac7
00ab81bc
00bbf1b1

Code:

efuse_vdd2
009aafe2
009a80a9
00aac695

If any other data would be useful, I'll be happy to gather it and post here.

So, it's probably not updated to reflect kp49 updated frequency table, and You should avoid using it with kp49.

Re: [Announce] kernel-power stable v49 in Extras-Devel

Strange, it looks like I'm the only one whe has the following problem...
I upgraded the .modules and .multiboot package from KP48 to KP49, Proper new multiboot entry appeared in the menu etc ... And it's starting well when selected.

But NO network connectivity ?? No 3G or WIFI connections available. For the rest all works fine. WTF ??

I did like the speed of KP49 but I can't live without network connectivity so I rebooted back into BFS8.

Anyone has an idea what caused this ? I do want to give the official KP49 a fair chance, as some things (with other applications) were working more reliable in the KP series. Allthough raw speed in BFS series is still better. My idea/gut feeling at least.

Thanks for all effort so far.

Try turning it off and remove the battery.
Leave it for for 5mins.
And start it back up.

That's worked for me a few time.

Hmm, thanks anyway, but I don't have the problem to boot. I ask for a description of the problem because it could be KP related.

I'm having the problem that disabling HEN usb mode makes my phone reboot. I did not experience that a few weeks ago when I last used this.

Some last moment messages I see in syslog:
Code:

It looks like the BME re-enabling fails...

Could it be related with the lastest kernel v49 version? I would be happy if someone could test hen-usb mode for me.

Re: [Announce] kernel-power stable v49 in Extras-Devel

Since I installed the "KP V49" strange things happen to me.

Blackouts when I'm not using, especially at night.

When you put it in "offline" as if it were heated fully operational and depletes the battery.

I have installed the speedpatch.

The profiles are not without causing the problem. Anyone can tell me as taking them properly configured?

Excuse my bad English.

Could it be related with the lastest kernel v49 version? I would be happy if someone could test hen-usb mode for me.

Most, likely, this is caused by bq27x00_battery.ko module loaded during boot - it loads first, then open path for bme. Ho ever, after stopping bme, starting it again result in reboot (to protect device from possible harm, by 2 thing accessing same i2c bus simultaneously. In KP's up to 47, there was a "path" that allowed them to co-exist together, but it was considered possibly harmful for the device. Real risk is disputable, and it depends how things are "protected" - in best case, during such risky situation bq27x00_battery just got "confused", in worst case, it may result in random, dangerous things related to hardware. So, with no doubts, disabling this "path" is improvement (trust me, I was very skeptic about removing it, and dig deep to get info why it's necessary).

First of all, you should check '/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist' - it should contain:
Code:

blacklist bq27x00_battery
If this is present, You should check '/etc/modules'. It's possible, that it contains bq27x00_battery entry there - mysteriously, it happened to me, while upgrading to kp49. Modules from this list, are loaded during boot regardless of blacklist entry (thanks to Pali for that info), so you should *remove* it from here.

After that, reboot, and Your issue should be fixed.

kernel-power installs it own modproble blacklist file with blacklisted bq module too: /etc/modprobe.d/kernel-power.blacklist

This afternoon, I discovered massive performance issues on my N900. Blacked out, reacting very slow. After a few reboots, found out it had to do with my online status on Skype. As this is one of the main functions of this phone I intend to keep using it :)

So, tried it all. Deleted last installed apps, everything. Nothing helped. Also tried de-installing kernel-power. Didn't work (used the menu shortcut). Then reflashed after 3 hours of trying things out (this phone is my only one), everything seemed to work fine, could login to Skype without problems. Then installed kernel-power (again via appdownloader) and the problem of hanging, slow reactions and such was there again! This time, I could remove kernel-power through the menu, and it looks like my N900 runs like before again. No troubles.

As you might have noticed, I'm far from an expert. Tried to look for general logfiles, but I cannot find them. I just don't have the knowledge. Just wanted to let you guys know what I experienced, it might not be related at all, but I don't have a clue.

Please let me know if I can be of any more help, and excuse me if this post doesn't belong here...

Guys, sorry for bringing this up again... Today I installed kp49, with hopes that the issue would be gone. Unfortunately, it's not. I would like to be able to use kp on my device, as well as cssu, so any help is appreciated! Problem occurs the moment I am actually signed in, during the signing-in process everything seems to be fine. Both on WiFi and 3G. It's making me headaces! :D

I reflashed, but didn't change anything to the emmc.
Any thoughts?

Estel,
Your suggestion was the right one. Thanks.

An "lsmod" gave me:
Code:

bq27x00_battery        6480  0
power_supply            7108  1 bq27x00_battery

I removed the module using "rmmod", and indeed, no more reboots after closing hen-usb!

bq27x00_battery was blacklisted, but also mentioned in my /etc/modules, so it was loaded nevertheless. Removed it from /etc/modules and it is no longer loaded after a reboot.

and when you have enabled h-e-n bme is stopped.

I am pretty sure that is not the case. bq27x00_battery was also loaded at boot time (next to BME). An lsmod just after boot showed me the module, and now that I have disabled bq27x00_battery, I have to read temperature values using i2cget and get different battery level indications (which is also an indication bq27x00_battery is no longer loaded). Estel also has the impression it is loaded at boot time. If you like you can test it by putting bq27x00_battery in /etc/modules.

I was reffering to your remark that BME and bq27x00_battery cannot be loaded at the same time. They can, although it is not desirable as you rightly state.
