That would be truly excellent! If you need help with questions you could probably grab a few from the community-questions-to-jolla-document...

Not sure if we will get any answers before slush, if so you could maybe add follow ups, but I think if you have facetime with someone from jolla. You will be much faster and more accurate.

Good luck @Slush. I will follow your blog.

@Bergie, would it be possible to share a few picture of the room where they hold the event, and maybe some comments on how many people attending. Some pre event information?

Just noticed that the venue building is Kaaplitehdas ("Cable factory"). Used to be part of Nokia, until Nokia got out of cable business in early 90's. These days it has museums, culture, events and so forth.

Is it confirmed that they won't release any concrete info on their device's hardware?

Nothing is confirmed or denied since jolla don't talk with a laser sharp voice. Will see if that changes after Slush.

So assume it's just a launch of the OS and no the device

Jolla's official twitter account has stated (multiple times) that there will be no hardware announcements at Slush.

Yes, but that can mean many things. To me it means we won't see a consumer device. But we can still get clues anyway maybe. SDK and API could give clues, how jolla demo the OS could give clues, Will they use an emulator, or some demo device. The worst thing would be if they used slides or videos. That would truly be annoying!

It's also a question who is the person behind the offical jolla account. Is that the person who decided what, how and when things should be presented? The person might not be involved in all decisions and plans on an hourly basis. Anyone knows who is running the official jolla account?

"Jolla is sailing fast and soon crossing a major leg in its journey by introducing Sailfish OS and Jolla UI to the world.

This will happen in the Slush conference in Helsinki, Finland on 21st and 22nd November (http://slush.fi/en). Jolla keynote starts at 11:15 (9:15am GMT) on the Main Stage. There will be two additional Jolla events during the conference: UI focused
session
on the Event Stage at 17:00-18:00 (3-4pm GMT) on Wednesday and SDK session for developers at 10:00-11:00 (8-9am GMT) on Thursday. All of the stages will have live video streams provided by Slush, and the videos will be available for offline
viewing."

I can't find where they actually spoke about new way of sending messages.

The source, Jollatides, is based on Digitoday story which is dated back to September 26th. Digitoday is basing their story on this: http://gigaom.com/europe/jolla-the-m...s-and-android/ . There Hurmola only says:

"We want to be the phone that handles messaging, calendars and so on in an inclusive way, so you can have concepts like the family in the device."

Old news, old misunderstandings.

Re: JollaMobile : Jolla continues Nokia's excellent work on #MeeGo based smartphones

Thats good news since I dont need a new way sending texts. Instead fix Copy paste every where, manage desktops, better mail client, more ways to config of the behaviour of the ui, better 3,5 mm jack/headphone so user can pick and choose. Arrows in keyboard, better navigation in text, Tabs in browser, be able to use flashplug in when i need it stuff like that. I JOLLA not wasting time to create inovative functions that nobady need to use, but instead creating software that works as top of the line smartphone.

Noob question: Will the Sailfish OS be used by some other manufacturers other than Jolla? Or will it be like Apple using iOS? My question is slightly pointing towards the openness of Sailfish too :D

Dave999 2012-11-17 11:02

Re: JollaMobile : Jolla continues Nokia's excellent work on #MeeGo based smartphones

Pro answer: Sailfish OS can be used by other manufactures as well. However as we speak we have no offical manufactures on the list. Jolla said that they plan to open similar offices in different areas of the world. but the name might not be under "sailfish".

Jolla have to prove that sailfish is a good bet for the future...lets see what jolla sails of the first version of sailfish.

As I described in some post months ago, this is how I think they should have used jolla.com until release.

Now, niantic(if you don't know it: google) has stolen the idea with some news/leads every day.

Very cool, yet very simple :D

Re: JollaMobile : Jolla continues Nokia's excellent work on #MeeGo based smartphones

i think the needs to be a clarification abou slushevent

1. Slush is not a announcement of devices
2. Slush is more an event for startupcompanys to show what they doing.
3. There is also other companys not even related to mobile market.

its seems some people may think this event is MWC or nokia events, but its not. Probadly very small event and not many outside finland except TMO knows much about it..

so dont expect to much coming week...

Dave999 2012-11-18 13:35

Re: JollaMobile : Jolla continues Nokia's excellent work on #MeeGo based smartphones

Of course we can expect much. After all, they call it jolla launch. This is the first time jolla has the stage for real, and 3 hours in three different presentations. They have to show what jolla is all about. So far they have released a few press releases as only information to the world. Other than that nothing. Jussi has talked a little, but never really said anything, jolla twitter twitter alot, but never say anything.

So now the big day has come when jolla can tell the world what they are up to, what they trying to do and how. SDK, UI and how they planning to work with mer must be availailable. UI has been ready for months so now is the time to shine.

They must show what they going for, are the going for a iOS style, android style. Contrinue the development of swipe feature ala n9 or working on something completly new style.

do they want developers to help them with software, how to disribute software . Coming clean with this open mobile(ACL) if there is any truth in that.

Who are they working with and what's the exiting new stuff developed with Joikusoft. How will the handle maps and navigations? Maybe say a word or two about what markets they are targeting on a high level at least and comment on Jolla.com. It's time to launch and official source of information.

So I expect a lot. Not a device, but lots of information related to the software, both now and for the future, information with real weight, not just nonsense like their twitter account.

Everyone has their own expectations so please share if you feel like it.

True.

Just saying that its going to be very good opportunity for Jolla. It's the largest startup event in Nordics and there's tons of big investors, investment funds and investment banks from all around the world attending. Also, lots of really big media outlets are there, like Techcrunch, Wall Street Journal, GigaOm, Wired, some big Asian blogs and all Nordic tech-media. So, they are at least getting really good media coverage and hopefully some investments as well.

Ah I was duped for the second time

This poll was promoted here a few months ago and that time too I couldn't vote because some nutcase in the organizing team decided facebook likes were the way forward

To peeps in Finland. Live TV show about the winner (propably Jolla) of that vote @MTV3, Wendsday 20.05-21.00.

If it's in english (could be since the current CEO is an american) and Jolla wins, I'll record and upload it to Youtube.
