thats what i did... put files on my n900 such as modified keyboard mapping, custom LED/vibate, custom app icons, custom status area icons etc etc etc

I'm talking about big files like a several GB zip file that you transfer to and from the N900 and then decompress it to check if there was any corruption.

No, to really validate the safety of the overcloking you need to transfer files from and to the device, a bit like a burn test but for files.

I've just done the following.....

zipped 2 100MB files into 1 zip file,
transfer the zip file to the phone,(mass storage mode)
extract the zipped files from the phone .

All in a few seconds and with no errors!

I am now on 930Mhz/500dsp ... after using 900mHz variant I have a feeling that this 930 underscales a bit worse ... 900 was on 125 most of the unused time, 930 is scaling up in the same situation ...

Tried this with 6 films in a zip file, total size was 4.1gb, copied via usb in mass mem mode, copied back and forth 3 times, zip file remains in tact, im only running the 700mhz kernel tho at the moment, will try later with the 750 and 800 mhz

I'm interested to see if anyone has less frame drops etc recording a video clip... preferably a panning shot or two :)

*Or, would overclocking have little impact on the recording quality?*

I find the phone to stay warm with these setting. it was normal with the 900mhz file. I some what assume it is related to the higher dsp settings. I am going to the 850 on next to see what it is like.

Tested a 1.4GB zip file containing 2 700Mb movies.

Copied it back and forth multiple times (PC <-> phone mmc<-> to PC)

Transfer speeds (8.4Mb/sec write, 9.4Mb/sec read) : 16GB card

No errors! (zip error test with winrar)

So you think 900MHz is better then 930MHz for the battery life?
