Gerbick, you have become such a great serial thread detailer :D
Personally, I think it will arrive later than sooner. Note: but we will see this Coming week... |

And, for that matter, what is so special about the tablet to the future of Jolla? As I understand it, Jolla saw an opportunity to release another hardware prototype with the help of Intel, and went for it. But the tablet does not represent (and never did represent) the heart of Jolla's business. That was always going to be licensing Sailfish, and we've seen that they're now off and running with that business model. Jolla's benefits from the tablet are (a) getting more recognition from the press and from the community at large, and (b) giving them experience setting up Sailfish on a tablet form-factor. I can't see it having ever been considered as a revenue generator for the company. (And I suspect they've already pulled in more resources with their first licensing agreement than they would have ever earned in profits from selling the tablet...) |

No, that's not Elop. That's a very sensible observation. Probably the most sensible in this entire thread. With lots of examples from the history (and present) to back it up. |

Which sensible observation? I've been known to call a spade a spade and I'm honestly not a fan of the Jolla PR attempts to date. They have a good start, some seriously good sounding/resonating terms but a horrible follow through. They use vague terms like "soon" and their communication in regards to their complications as of late. If you mean these difficulties around delivery of a tablet; big complex words won't work. Nor does simple, overly vague terms either. The absolute truth could be a version of this: they're working with an ODM, ran into some frustrations with the display, they sourced an option that would be better for the consumer in the long run and perhaps did so in a quick fashion but it will delay shipment and there are some adjustments that will invariably happen. Mind you, that's my very uneducated guesswork based on circumstantial information sourced from searching and from this forum. But let's be honest. It's probably the reasoning behind splitting their company to handle hardware. They want to license their OS, they better have answers when Partner X comes with SoC Y and has Problem Z with <insert part here>. They seem to be doing some rather good moves to resolving these things, trying to avoid some growing pains. But unfortunately growing pains will still happen despite their best attempts. But if you see something else sensible that Dave is pointing towards; I'm all ears. I'm quite sure I've missed something. I already admitted to missing the display issues. And I was merely joking when I called him Stephen Elop. Nothing like a serious knee-jerk reaction to a well "loved" name like that in these parts. The only date I can think of was the one that kept popping up - July 15th. Lastucase, some other sites pointed to something - it ended up being something wholly different; Intex and MWC not the delivery of the Jolla Tablet. July 25th has not been mentioned yet anywhere I'm aware of btw. |

25th is the last day to ship from Asia to reach customers around the world before 31 of July and another delay of a soft date... At the same time I would like to give Jolla credits for being upfront with the est.delivery dates...it's just that they need to manage to hit some of them to get trust. |

Jolla’s first handset is now approaching two years on the market, and fans of Jolla outside of India will be looking at Intex and wondering how to get their hands on an updated handset. I’ve no doubt it will be possible, but the brand partnerships do tie content to a regional market, and the strategy is to build up a platform within each country. But perhaps they shouldn’t be too hasty, Saarnio has one last comment. ”We might have something else coming up for Jolla fans.” A tablet maybe? Wood case anyone? Just added to the line. http://lastucase.com/product/lastuco...-jolla-tablet/ shipping a few days after order...now we just need a tablet...Anyone got their case? |

With that, I agree. But I disagree with the term "sensible". It's just common sense; he was allowed to do what he did by the Nokia board. I've stated as much in the past - as have others. Now, back on topic. Jolla tablet and the difficulties of delivery. I'll just have to employ patience. Which... to me is a big, big investment. |
