Ahh well, it was worth a shot. :) Hopefully the info on the Amazon preorders shipping within the next day or so is true there, I'll take the $50 hit if I can get it before Turkey Day.

I would fill the form out and send it in. To me the purchase happens when it's charged to your CC. I can't believe they would gig you because you pre-ordered it earlier.

Oh what the...

You're correct. The rebate card says nothing about an invoice. Who stirred up that rumor?

Like I said, they won't change your date, but they will cancel your order and place you a new one with your previous order's price. So you won't be hit with the new $606 price, however you will be at the back of the line for receiving your order though.

Yea i was going to ask about that. I noticed it doesnt ask for the invoice just the upc and barcode so i was confused as to how would they know as long as u ship out your proof before jan 8th.

Yeah I totally agree with you...the buy date imo is when they actually charge your card and send/give you the product

Well, us people that got the Dell deal will probably not see them for a long time, but people that paid the normal price should get them within several days of flag stores -if you did not do free delivery.

However you will be at the back of the line for shipping.

** She just called me back and said they have the devices and will start shipping either tomorrow or Monday at the latest and should have enough product if I want to cancel my first order and replace it.

What do you mean "you won't get it" It's just a rebate form from nokia isn't it? I've pre-ordered the phone for $559, as soon as the rebate option came out I printed it out.. once I send the rebate to nokia I will eventually get $50 in the mail by NOKIA not sure what amazon's price has to do with it... This will bring my total down to $509.
I really don't think you need to cancel and re-order to be able to use the rebate... The $50 is coming from nokia, NOT amazon.

Re: OPK: N900 deliveries have now started!!

Yeah that was actually the first suggestion, but both the rep and lead both said I would be back where I started because I would be charged the new $609 price, they would be unable to give it to me for the $559 price by re-ordering. No biggie, I guess it all depends on who you speak to and what mood they're in at the moment. :p It sounds like it doesn't much matter though as from what I'm reading, the actual invoice or purchase info isn't needed for the rebate; as long as I don't write 11/11/09 on the form I should be okay. :)

romanianusa 2009-11-19 22:15

Re: OPK: N900 deliveries have now started!!

It doesn't make sense not to get rebate since the very first customers are the ones that pre-ordered. They should be treated as priority to get the rebate. It's illogical to deny the very first people that buy the phone...it just doesn't make sense. I don't believe it.

Re: OPK: N900 deliveries have now started!!

As far as I'm concerned... the Purchase is made when they charge the money... they committed to the $559 price with me, and cannot go back on that.
They will honor that price(or they'll get the device back and lose a long time customer FOREVER), and the rebate has nothing to do with them.

Nokia doesn't care how much you paid for the phone... They've already been paid whatever price by Amazon for purchasing the phone from them wholesale... what amazon charges is irrelevant to Nokia.

The rebate say's 'If purchased between Nov 16 and Dec 31', and on the invoice it'll say the pre-order date which is Sept 19.

I just read the rebate again, and it doesn't say to include your invoice, but I wonder if Nokia has a way to track the UPC code tied to your Amazon account pre-order date??

I wouldn't be surprised if this was so, otherwise lets say someone purchases the phone Jan 1st from Amazon, but the end date for the rebate clearly states Dec 31. If all you have to do is tell them 'this is my buy date' and they go by your word then allot of people could get away with it between Jan 1 through Jan 8 thus Nokia would be paying out allot money to rebates that are ineligible. I'm sure they have a way of tracking actual order dates through second party retailers.

They can tell your date by when you do the OVI activation. I really would sweat this. You'll get your $50. The rebate form has rules about the activation and when it has to be done.

It doesn't say in the big list of things to send at the top that you must include your receipt/invoice, but in the fine print down lower, it says:

Quote:

Please keep a copy of your submission for your records. Mail-In Form, dated store receipt and UPC/barcode panel must be postmarked by January 8, 2010 and received no
later than January 15, 2010. Submissions postmarked after January 8, 2010 or received after January 15, 2010 will not be accepted and are void.

Re: OPK: N900 deliveries have now started!!

Ok, repeating myself from earlier when last week I spoke to Amazon about the price drop and I'll emphasize "$559.99 . This is the price you'll be charged for this item when the order ships.":

Hello,

The discounts we offer vary from time to time. I see we currently offer a greater discount on "Nokia N900 Unlocked Cell Phone/Mobile Computer with 3.5-Inch Touchscreen, QWERTY, 5 MP Camera, Maemo Browser, 32 GB--U.S. Version with Full Warranty" than we did at the time you placed order #_.

Since this item hasn't shipped yet, I adjusted the price to reflect the current discounted price, $559.99 . This is the price you'll be charged for this item when the order ships.

So I expect for them to stand by this. Period.

BUT the rebate for does say:
between November 16, 2009 and December 31, 2009....and...Mail-In Form, dated store receipt and UPC/barcode panel ...

So if they want to stick to the rules and my Amazon invoice reflects the date I actually placed the order, I may not get the rebate, but still a decent price.

i'm on phone with nokia usa (Brightpoint). I had my preorder on 9/4 and they are telling me that they need to cancel that order because BT headset is not compatible. New order will have 15% off with free "express", not overnight, shipping.

now having issues with bank because they had other pending hold.. you can guess who that was from.

Good luck with that. No one has been able to get their "new" orders to go through. They always say it's a problem with your bank even though it is not. Next they will lock you out for 3-5 days in their system and tell you to try back next Thursday.

Brightpoint (NokiaUSA.com) might have awful reputation with the banks. Chase kept calling me weekly while I had my preorder with Nokia asking me whether the pre-authorizations were legit or fraudulent.

This is the only company that Chase has bothered to call me and ask about charges from.

So I can believe that Brightpoint has a problem with the banks, which has nothing to do with the customers, but something in Brightpoints processing or business ways.

Re: OPK: N900 deliveries have now started!!

There's no question Amazon will stand by the $559 price if you ordered before the price hike. I think some people were a bit peeved to find out they may not be eligible for the additional $50 rebate, bringing it to $509 for those who ordered prior to the price drop, due to the order date being the same as the pre-order, regardless of the actual charge date. Sounds like that may not be an issue though; regardless I'm sending the rebate in and hopefully 8 weeks later I'll have a $50 card. :)

It's in the small print twice. Once in the "Terms and Conditions" and again directly above the form. But NOT as one of the "above" items listed in "If any of the above items are not mailed in their entirety". Could be boilerplate legal disclaimer fodder, but doubt it. Certainly a sneaky way out for Nokia.

I'll be sending mine in anyway.

I called in an had to reorder my phone as well. I could no longer get the $19.99 extra years warranty or overnight shipping. The warranty is $49.99 now and they no longer offer overnight shipping.

Maybe, just maybe they will ship soon.

From several calls with Brightpoint I have decided that their change in computer systems has really screwed up N900 shipping. It would not surprise me if they have sat on shipping for several days while they figure out who to ship to. Two agents have mentioned a printed list of the pre Oct 12th preorders.
