may you please write a command to flash using windows as you've done for the old kernel here:

Its exactly the same, but you use flasher-3.5.exe (or whatever the executable is) :)

Now if updating the firmware will I have to go through the whole process of adding Android again (following all of the steps in dj_steves post #2142)

Hmm, just updated the maemo firmware and still get the unrecognised option --local when trying to run softupd

If only there was a help/tutorial thread for NITDroid so that we could keep this one about development discussion...

I'm working on a Noob's guide for installing NITDroid. I'm trying to be as simple as I can and also explain all the steps. Motivate me with hitting thanks please :p

Sneak peak here: http://wiki.nitdroid.com/index.php?t...de_to_NITdroid

Also, DO NOT FOLLOW THAT GUIDE. Its incomplete and steps may be wrong.

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

Everything worked fine for me.

List of bugs/ not functional stuff.

- Bootmenu, My Android partition is 3rd on the list, bootmenu shows Android on 2nd

- Wifi is indeed not working anymore.

- Battery not working anymore

- reboots alot when trying to boot into Maemo

Other then that, I see alot of new stuff and improvements !

Great job guys, alot of progress !

One question, does R&D mode need to be enabled for booting into Maemo and Android ?

dj_steve 2010-07-07 19:34

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

nope the 0.0.5 versions dont need r&d anymore

AFAIK you don't need R&D mode on the latest releases.

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

dj_steve I tryed the "turn wifi on > reboot" idea, no luck

to everyone else, A way to speed up android right now is to disable animations, goto settings > display > Animation > off

dj_steve 2010-07-07 19:51

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

yep ive got a couple of people in irrc testing a newrootfs at min to try and find what broke wifi

i tried renaming sensors.nokia.so to sensors.nokia.so.vintage and removing the original, should this disable Accelerometer? and will i see notable increase in performance?

dj_steve 2010-07-07 20:07

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

yep and probably not - its due to lack of 3d drivers at min

Nipperoid 2010-07-07 20:09

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

well i tried, and its a touch faster.

i also prefer the "do it on the device" method, as my computer is an arse when it comes to tars on linux

There is a support thread,
but you are doing the mkdir command wrong, its
Code:

mkdir /and
and make sure you run this as root.

formating will take you back to step one, do this in maemo term
Code:

root

wget http://downloads.nitdroid.com/Autoinstaller/installer.sh

sh installer.sh 128

replace 128 with the size of fat32 partition in mb [so 128 is 128mb], that is NOT for android the remaining space will be used for android

there will be a warning page press enter, after that step you will see a second warning sign, press ctrl+c to cancel and then follow the steps here

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

ok so now i'm running autoinstaller

then i have to flash

and then i have to start with this:

3. Mount your android partition and install rootfs (this will wipe out previous data so backup anything you want)
Code:

cd /
mkdir and
mount -o noatime,rw /dev/mmcblk1p2 /and
cd /home/user/MyDocs
wget http://downloads.nitdroid.com/NITDro...oYo-GAPPs.tbz2
bzip2 -d NITDroid-N900-0.0.5-1-FroYo-GAPPs.tbz2
cd /and
tar xvf /home/user/MyDocs/NITDroid-N900-0.0.5-1-FroYo-GAPPs.tar
cd ..
umount /and
rmdir /and

but why not install bootmenu2?

because you said you did already. Bootmenu is on n900 memory not sd so it will still be installed.

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

i did everything but when i'm back in terminal and i type

mkdir and

it says mkdir: cannot create directory and: file exists

ear0wax 2010-07-07 20:56

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

its fine, just do the mount command, you made the /and directory already
