Re: [Announce] kernel-power stable v49 in Extras-Devel

if you have a disabled fmtx module due country restrictions, the fm-faker is necessary to activate the fmtx module!
i have this runing since Dec. 2009!! and when i look at the mainthread: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=60567 i can cleary read at the first page that it is necessary

but dude, these ping pong game is leading nowhere...

i had a problem with the fmtx module after update ( cssu, kp49 )

i solved the issue with:
Code:

root
fmtx-faker-tool patch

if i can someone help with these information it's fine, otherwise let it go

Changes to this version:

* Region is unlocked inside the FMTXD
* Power Strength set to 120 (as previous version)
* No need FM-Faker to get it to work :)
* Charging/plug in headphone while FM-transmitting will not interfaring
* Hassle free installation

hey dude, it's nice to see that it should be possible!
i can tell you that it won't run without the fm-faker on my n900

when i unpatch the system with the fmtx-faker-tool, uninstall the fm-faker and try the fmtx module, it says no fm module available

You should install:
kernel-power-bootimg
...and updated kernel-power-settings.

*not* kernel-power-flasher

If You're installing manually (not from repos) you also need to install:
kernel-power-modules
...otherwise, it's installet automatically, as dependency of kernel-power-bootimg

have you enabled extras-devel repository..? if yes then just reinstall by using these commands in x-terminal as root..

sudo gainroot
apt-get install --reinstall kernel-power kernel-power-modules kernel-power-bootimg kernel-power-settings

and then check under /etc/multiboot.d
you will see something with kernel-power49..do not enter examples folder

and be sure that all of ur repositories are enabled and updated..

I don't use multiboot but, could you post here the output of
'ls -l /etc/multiboot.d'

That is, open a terminal and type

$ ls -l /etc/multiboot.d

Post the results.

Fabulous work and effort! I'm on kernel power v.46 and I would just like to upgrade to v.48. Any advice on how to go about this? Couldn't find information on upgrading to a specific version if needed.

What exactly have you installed?

If I look at kernel-power-bootimg from extras-devel that's KP46, which ONLY places a kernel image (zImage) on /boot.

Nothing about configuring multiboot or anything. So I guess you need to (1) find a multiboot-ready image of KP49 *and* (2) configure your damn** multiboot to include the new kernel.

No idea how to configure multiboot (don't use it). Cannot be harder than editing a text file, I suppose.

Re: [Announce] kernel-power stable v49 in Extras-Devel

It's been a couple of days now. I think I can say KP49 with the DSP profile is a-ok on my n900 (hwrev 2101 as if that matters). No problems, CPU-intensive programs and DSP-intensive multimedia all work.

roniro 2011-11-22 23:25

Re: [Announce] kernel-power stable v49 in Extras-Devel

Time for me to learn some more new things! Does anyone one know where I can find an image for KP48, NOT KP49? (I'm still working on understanding quite a bit):) Perhaps I'll give KP49 a it a try after all. (I actually use it as my primary communication device, but am constantly amazed by what this community has, and continues, to do!)

i can only use omap.. i cant switch to kp49 because of that multiboot.. anybody know how to switch?

Re: [Announce] kernel-power stable v49 in Extras-Devel

v49 works in general fine for me, but the "FM radio" doesn't works anymore since I use v49. I hear simply no sound at all with the default application.

Edit: Works fine with QRadio.

Re: [Announce] kernel-power stable v49 in Extras-Devel

@Masoi,

Your problem (or at least one of them) is clearly related to your incapability of configuring multiboot. I'm sure there is a multiboot thread around here, so find it and ask THERE.

I cannot see what relevance your problem(s) may have with KP49.

Did you power-cycle your device? If not do it now.

Hey, because I have a good day today, I did figure out what (I think) your problem is:
Look in the Backupmenu-Multiboot thread (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...708#post911708).

In post #8 (http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=911708&postcount=8) it is recommended to do:

# apt-get install kernel-power-bootimg
# apt-get install --reinstall multiboot-kernel-power

You've done step 1, but (apparently) not step 2. Executing the second line should (hopefully) reconfigure multiboot.

NOW, if after that you're N900 gets a boot loop or explodes or becomes an iPhone, it's non of my business. I still recommend you read on multiboot or whatever it is you're using. Takes time but you learn a lot.

Re: [Announce] kernel-power stable v49 in Extras-Devel

Not 100% sure this is KP bug (happens on phone with KP48 and not on stock-kernel one though, so very likely):

'Save as' in Gnumeric causes a reboot after a few seconds. Schoap D also found this correlation (one of the community pages I found). Is this by any chance fixed in 49?

multiboot-kernel-power is obsolated by package kernel-power-bootimg. So you need to install only kernel-power-bootimg!

Is the fix available outside of CSSU? (and as I am a bit confused: considering this is KP48 related bug (works ok on 47 according to Schoap), why is it fixed by CSSU???)
