There's always the possibility they aren't quite certain of the time table or situation quite yet themselves and thus (wisely) keep silence... If they'd say they don't know people will assume worst case and get all upset over it, if they'd say something else and then change their mind people will get all upset over it. Even if they know exact ship date is probably tomorrow it's risky for them to tell it. PR stuff is tricky as heck.

Being in the dark is also scary, but I don't think it will be long.

I'd argue staying silent is probably not the best approach considering all the excitement they generated and all the deposits they took. The pre order people honestly should be getting the best treatment because we were first to put our money down when others wouldn't.
But I digress, I'm going to try and stay away from the thread for a week or so. reading and posting here just turns everything into a frenzy. I came here for info and it seems currently there is none. Peace

Surely won't cancel mine. They gave an explanation and i understand it. They could start shipping without quality. I will wait and congratulate Chen once more

disappointed as the communication has been poor, and the out of box experience is the least important thing to me personally

If they delay again a few days before people are expecting a release, with the same lack of communication, it would be a very unprofessional look

Still looking forward to the phone however :)

IFA Berlin 2019

On a better note, we attended the annual Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin (IFA), which is one of the most established consumer electronics exhibitions attended. Today it is one of world's leading trade shows for consumer electronics and home appliances. We had the chance to show off Pro1 to the media. Culminating in the Pro1 winning the ‘Innovation’ Award.

You may have already seen the very positive articles we received from the show already, if not please take a look at some of the press articles that we are featured in.

Expect regular updates from us via email and social on the progress of Pro1 production.

Interesting development. I was waiting to see how the first batch turned out before taking a dive and buying one. In particular, was hoping to see how successful folks were in porting a standard linux distribution so I had a mini pc.

I understand the form-factor is the same as the BlackBerry Passeport. I tried one Passeport and I found it fat : you have to use both and to use it, whatever you want to do. In addition, the edge are "sharp" (meaning : they aren't very round), so it will break your trouser pockets.
However, having a smartphone with a physical keyboard which is IP67 is pretty cool.

All this situation is good to me. The screen protectors i ordered Will only arrive mid october. So i will not have to keep FX tec pro1 on a drawer :)

With the current exchange rate it's just 13€ extra, so about 15$.
As an example, you can buy the low capacity iPhone 11 pro for 1250€ in germany (1375$), but in Greece that is still EU it costs about 1340€ (1475$).
I mean, just 10€ difference in price between counties sounds like a dream in my book, not something to complain about!

It took me 2 seconds to receive an email to reset password and another few seconds to reset it. Look on spam mail box

Thank you deutch1976. I did check the spam folder, but I'm not getting any message. Weird. And the address is correct because if I try to create a new account using the same, it fails because the email address already has an account.

Do you have any plans to look into porting UBPorts for the Pro1? I'm interested myself as well, but current main issue is Android 9 support in middleware

Frankly, when the devices have been manufactured, the pallets have arrived at the distribution hubs and the devices and orders have been registered in the shipping data base so they are ready to be packed, labeled and shipped, we will likely get an email announcing a shipping date.

From previous reactions here and elsewhere, they'd be crazy to do it any differently. :)

I find the confidence communicated in their social media to be reassuring and am happy to wait. YMMV

This is a necessary step to clear the path to shipping these devices, so this is in a sense, good enough to send to FCC for final certification.

They are hopefully packing the pre-orders here in the next week or so, and shipping within a few days of that. For me personally, since they said early October, I'd want an arrived package or at least an in progresss shipment no later than October 7th.

If later than that, I will likely do a chargeback and wander into a Mall store to get some other phone, whatever $700 gets you these days. It must have a headphone jack.
