how can I actual see which firmware version is installed?

I just bought a N900 and it's lightning fast and has already those 1.2 fixes it seems?!

Go to Settings --> About product and look at the Version.

They might have missed marking the bug as 'resolved' when it was actually fixed. Things like this happen sometimes.. Where a tester yells out across the room "Hey Olli, I cant seem to reproduce bug 999, is it resolved?". "Umm not sure, I'll check in 10 minutes, just having lunch ". (3 hours later) "Hey Ansi, you know that bug, 999? Yeh i fixed it a month ago, just resolving the ticket now".

i think you guys will have it soon now.
Why? Because i brought my N900 to a Nokia care center that will send my broken N900 to Nokia itself.
(because of my sim card problem that is not recognized anymore)
So now i dont have mine N900 anymore, so now Nokia can release it pretty soon, just to annoy me even more :)

i think 10 does mean build nr or something
and the 9 is the week nr.

so if i read it correctly pr1.2 will be build 10 of week 9 in the year 2010

And week 9 is pretty old if you ask me...

Had a small talk with a Nokia rep and said that "a new firmware update is coming in one of these days." If it doesn't come, then it's the last time I trust reps.

Also, no offence to the rep, but I can't imagine they'd know any more than we do. In fact, I'd say that people on this forum probably know more than most Nokia reps...

I know its not as secretive as apple, but even the people working on 1.2 won't let much give, other than that we are getting it at some point.

I still think the most concrete thing is the whole HK release of the N900... although I'm guessing its no 100% ready... just close ;)

PR 1.2 comes on thursday, because:
- n900 china edition with built in pr1.2 is getting released
- ubuntu 10.04 comes out, i think nokia will have the same release cycles like canonical ;)
- chuck norris already has installed PR 1.2 and now has owned the repos and will copy it to them.

I don't believe it either, and personally idgaf. If I die nothing I can do about it so what's the point in fearing or being worried about something that the odds say it will not happen.

From what I hear, these end of the world dates simply mean a revolution of some sort; technological, social, etc...

It seems if one adds the Maemo SDK repo it's possible to upgrade 161 packages with the command "apt-get upgrade", including system packages. More packages may be upgraded manually with apt-get install <package>. Maybe PR 1.2 is there? Anyone brave enough?

april 27th isnt a n900 with pr1.2 ment to go on sale today in a country other then uk and america. if my memory serves me correct i think it was japan or china or somewere like that. i also read rumors on the internet that because of this it is ready to give to the uk and american markets and will be released on the following friday 30th.

i also read that maybe if the offical update doesnt come for the uk and american markets by then the chances are some one will hack it out of the japan/china version and package it for the uk and american version.

so i just wanted to no did the n900 with pr1.2 hit the japan/china market today ?

jamie721: in 2 days will launch here in hong kong with pr 1.2. i don't stay here (working here for a project with one of the mobile carriers) but if its launching here, what about the rest of us. Mine's from Malaysia where it was launched around 3weeks ago. :) hopefully it will be a very welcome update as i think a LOT of users are waiting for. Seems like a half finished product when i got mine though still fantastic.

this would make my day! I am dual booting ubuntu 10.04 on friday and having a distraction like a great firmware upgrade would be a great idea...

oh and to comment on the n-8 I still think the N900 is lightyears better because it supports a usable operating system. symbian is old news. the camera is all that makes the n-8 attractive not to mention the n-8 photos I have seen make it look pretty ugly.
I don't know but I think I am going crazy...
