Whats the date for the latest libsdlpre.so ? is there an update ?
cause the wiki says that shrek karting is working ok after the last lib file, when there is shadow and coloring issue in the game.

Also this happens randomly.
Any ideas/solutions?

I applied the hildon desktop patch and this problem has gone.

I wonder if their approach will be the same as preenv. 320x480 to 768x1024 aren't even multiples. I get the feeling this is going to be blurry.

The wiki page lists Sandstorm and Gangstar as "Not Working"...

Preenv is for running some Palm/WebOS games - not Android.

maybe with future updates, preenv will run all games?

ive completed quite a few missions on gangstar in nitdroid but driving is the main problem without multi-touch

we'll have to see i guess :)

The fact they mention "tested apps" probably means that yes, they might be using the original Preenv approach.

UConnect (and UFlip) save mechanism is not currently understood. On Preenv, those games try to save a file in path "/.db" and don't have required permissions.
A temporary (but dangerous) solution seems to run those games with root privileges (personaly, I never tried it). But even with this solution, if you have those two games installed, they will crush each other save.

It won't have any further effect, and from that it seems like I'll have to press it rapidly, but you know... I don't. I see one solution to it, though: why not put the jump-key on the keyboard? Would make it so much easier. And if it's already on the keyboard, where?
I have used mido.fayad's scripts for keyboard mappings, and I see that some keys do work quite well. It's just that the jump-key isn't functional.

Because of Harmattan I believe the best way forward is for Preenv apps to run inside a chroot, instead of LD_LIBRARY_PATH tricks. That should also fix the savegames in / problem.

I think that is just the musings of one of the maemo gods and not for mere mortals to understand.

I believe you cannot use the keyboard for movement in Assassin's Creed for the reasons mentioned above. You therefore have to use the onscreen d-pad. But you should be able to use the keyboard for jumping. On mine you have to use the "P" key (UK keyboard) so try that. This assumes that you have applied the mido fayad script. If not go to the FAQ linked on post 1 this thread and click on point 7.

I just did that now. I have even doned what phap recommended and changed the keyboard language from swedish to english and the phone language to english (UK). No difference. :( isn't there a way to make an sh mode with JUST the jump command? The rest of the controls are easy to use with the touch screen. Any ideas anyone?

Guys I have a question. Do you know why I cannot play The Settlers? I installed it first by extracting it from an .ipk file with chmod +rwx method and when I want to start the game all I get is a black screen for a few seconds then the game closes. Same thing if I install it as a .deb file. Does it need a special library or something? The first method (.ipk) worked fine with other games such as avatar.

Have you visited inside the settlers folder? is it the textures10.bar or 11? Either way, check the file, and also check another file named .preenv-uid in /home/user/(?) folder make sure the numbers inside the .bar file matches with the numbers inside the uid one. If not, change it to the -uid numbers. There is a high chance that it would work after that.

Ok I have installed Settlers as .deb, .ipk, and now I have it with WebOS Games Manager. I just did what you said. I have several texture.bar files but instead of 10 i have texture9.bar and after it texture11.bar. Is that the problem? Anyway I changed the values inside the .bar file with those from the .preenv-uid. Still no change. And today I saw that I have the same problem with several other games, one of them being HAWX. I am sure it's not a corrupt installer but something else. Should I change the 11 to 10 from the textures?

Hey thnx for the tip. I tried that but it took a while to realize that I had another key instead of P for jump. Now I can at least jump even it the side movement it's still crappy. THNX again.

Your problem is less likely related to the regular problem happens at the settlers. I might recommend following the proper procedure.
(chown command and etc.) and also:

Code:

DUDE YOU'RE AWESOME. I must confess that something strange happened: i tried to install with chmod ug+x filename but it didn't worked, I was also unable to gain ownership of the game ( I got that I didn't have permision), so I used chmod +rwx to install the game. The folder was containing both texture10 and 11.bar and the game would not start again. So I removed the texture11.bar and left the texture10.bar and the game started FINALLY. Now when I checked the settlers folder again the textures10.bar vanished and instead was the deleted texture11.bar with the same values as before. I am a bit curios why but I am glad that it worked. Kan I use the same textures for Hawx?(I have the same problem there. This is a longer post cause I have another question:D:i got and .ipk game (airhockey) and when I extract it I have 3 folders( app, images and stylesheets), an appinfo.json, an icon, index and sources.json. Do you know IF and how I can install it on my N900? Tnx in advance.

AFAIU Airhockey is a web based app and it's not a PDK one. So it's almost impossible to run it with Preenv. As for the settlers, do you know how to make files read only? Perhaps doing this on the texture10.bar would work. And you said that you are experiencing problems in the H.A.W.X? What is it exactly? Have you tried following the wiki first?

I don't know how to make files read only for the settlers but I don't need it. The game runs perfectly now. With hawx I had the same problem as with the settlers: It starts but all I get is a black screen for a second and then the game crashes. Did you meant the wiki link you gave me? That method didn't work for me but I installed it with chmod +rwx just like the rest of the games which are working. I saw that hawx doesn't have texture files. Does it need a special library perhaps?
