Simply saying so doesn't make it true. Dared, at least, has the evidence of numbers and trends so far backing up his statement.

You're right, did you notice NOKIA's gross margin for smart devices last quarter was -3.5%? The gross margin is now negative! And even now they're giving them away at less than cost they can't shift a decent number!

Added to this we already know at the start of Q4 NOKIA were having a fire sale of 800s, so Q4 is already shaping up to be another disaster.

What's new in WP8 that's going to change any of this?

Windows RT, Surface, Windows 8.It's a completely new game. Will it work? who knows. IMO they must have something better/more in line of what the user want than the Lumia 920, or the 820. Who exactly are they targeting with those devices? A 200g huge brick of a phone and a low res mediocre nothing?

I'll probably get myself that brick though. Not because I urge for it, but because there is nothing else that is even remotely tempting, and the camera looks real good of course. I'm not alone, the smartphone arena is getting duller each day.

Everything, Everything is new. Windows Phone 7.x is abandoning their user base and starting over. From 0.

Can you give me a concrete example of how that benefits me?

Its fun to see people here who said WP7.5 will success but was wrong, and now they say WP8 will success cause it totally different and restart from 0

I also remember Elops silly answer to a engineer a year ago:

Meego was not ready but WP was

FACTS stands: Nokia is doomed...

no, but as far as I'm concerned WP8 is a worthy candidate to take over from Symbian. The NT core is (disputably) the best core OS out there. There are no limits there and the same source can be used for basically all tech consumer products.

back in the old days long before the iPhone I didn't care about popularity, I didn't care about how many million apps existed etc etc. And I don't care now. My next phone is a lumia 920.

@specc "The NT core is (disputably) the best core OS out there."

I agree with the dispute... as it is a closed source kernel it's not possible to make any claims like that about it.

That's no dispute, that's just a simple trollish denial.
