Just posted what I heard from my source. I'm sure we both can agree that Nokia should be more clear with it's roadmap and codenames like AMD and Intel :)

It is a routine to attempt running new software release on older hardware before new hardware comes in. Especially if new hardware uses different architecture.

So I wouldn't put too much hope into anything that talks about intel/arm builds -- that just a normal way of producing development releases. After all, there are x86 and arm builds of all previous maemo repositories -- starting at least with Bora as far as I can see.

As Jaffa indicated earlier in the thread, Ilmatar fits as an OS release codename. As Android uses desserts and Symbian^3 uses feminine names, Maemo used named winds. Bora, Chinook, Diablo, (Elephanta), Fremantle, (Gregale), and Harmattan were all Maemo OS codenames. Prior to the merge into MeeGo, Ilmatar had been mentioned (by qgil) as a likely name for the Maemo release following Harmattan.

The hardware codenames are different. The N900 is Rover.

"Gregale" had been used for Maemo 2.2 prior to Nokia switching to making the wind names progress alphabetically.
"Elephanta" was folded into Fremantle.

Finns can you educated us? :)

Maemo software releases have always been coded with wind names.

EDIT: um... like sjgadsby noted...

Agreed.

Guys, there is enough interest in this subject that there is no need to bump the thread with spam.
